We could play that game all day. What has Manning done to make you take him over Brady?

 

Tom Brady goes out first game of the season and the Patriots go 11-5 and make the playoffs. Peyton Manning goes out before the season and the Colts go 2-14 and have to rebuild their entire team.

 

I have no problem with people picking Brady, but he's not even in the same league as Manning.

 

Imo, Kurt Warner is better than Tom Brady.

Are the number of rings the right way to decide this?

 

For those that say Brady over Manning, I have a question. Do you think that Manning would have won at least 3 of the 5 Superbowls that Brady has won if he was the Patriots QB?

 

So Mannin didn't have a good team? Stokley, Harrison, Wayne, Clark, James?

Manning made those players better. Reggie wayne had 7 1k yard receiving seasons in a roll with Manning, the season Manning got hurt he failed to reach 1k yards receiving and scored 5 tds I think it was?

 

And how about Edge, he was amazing when he was playing with Manning and the went to the Cardinals..... can't really remember him don anything there??

 

Its funny how these players have good seasons with Manning.

QB's always get too much credit and take too much blame for SB's

 

 

For some reason people tend to forget it's a team game and give all the accolades to a QB even if it's something else that puts the team over the top such as defense etc.

 

All you have to look at is the first Bengals Super Bowl. You take a poll around the country and ask Football fans who the better QB that game was I garuntee you Joe Montana would win in the voting hands down.

 

Now go and look at the facts of the game and who was actually the better QB in that game, it was Ken Anderson.

Ken Anderson 73.5% compl % 300 yds passing 2 TD's

 

Joe Montana 63% compl% 157 yds passing 1 TD

 

yet Joe won MVP of the game.

 

Almost always the MVP will come from the winning team. It's only happened once to come from a loser.

 

Both QBs also rushed for TDs, making it 3 TDs for Anderson, 2 for Montana total. Anderson also threw two INTs, one of which was on third and goal on the first drive, killing a great chance for Cincinnati to take the early lead. The last was in the last 6 minutes of the game on the first play of the drive with Cincinnati down 9. It virtually ended the game.

 

Anderson had 83 yards at the half - they were down 20-0. He attempted almost as many passes in the second half (20) as Montana did in the game (22).

 

All that aside, we agree that QBs tend to get to much credit and too much blame. They are the most visible players and considered the leaders of their teams, which leads to that.

I don't think that would be the case for Brady, he is a product of the system. The year Brady got hurt Matt Cassel came in and looked amazing, even earned himself a nice starting spot in KC.... and has looked nothing but awful the entire time since. The same thing would have happend to Brady if they had decided to start Drew Bledsoe after he came back from his injury, Tom Brady would have went to Buffalo or somewhere, played a few seasons and we would have never heard from him again.

Don't dismiss Warner so fast, for a stretch he was the best QB in football...then got hurt, returned and took ARIZONA...ARIZONA to a Superbowl. I'm not saying Warner is the best of this group but mentioning him does not lose credibility.

Edge was on the decline, thus the reason the Colts did not resign him. And with Wayne, the reason he didn't play we'll without Manning was because they had Jim Sorgi or whoever playing QB. Seems like Wayne did pretty well with Luck at QB.

QBs play with the hands they are dealt. Brady has thrived in the situation he was brought into.

 

 

Manning started off on a horrible Colts team and made them into a contender and eventually won the Super Bowl.

 

 

Brady has the advantage during the playoffs because Manning seems to try and do too much and ultimately makes poor decisions. Brady may not do everything but he doesn't lose them either. The majority of their Super Bowl wins was not by him either, defense and Vinateri.

 

 

It's really a toss up to each QB. Both are great, both are the best of their time, both are headed to the HOF.

I've listed plenty of reasons why he's not in the same league with Manning. The only reason people consider Brady as a legend is because of the superbowls, if he would have played 15 years and never won one, nobody would care. If Manning played 15 and never won one, he would still be conseidered one of the best.
