Cigars International Special is back

I can't figure my humidor out. I have the gel and an RH pack and all my cigars are dry as a bone.

I set up a new one last May and it went terribly. Turned out something had gone wrong the first time I tried calibrating the hygrometer and it was way off. I let it get too dry and thought it was in a decent range. Maybe a reset of the hygrometer would help.

Recal your hygrometer using the salt/distilled water method.

Recondition humidor by sitting a shot glass of distilled water in it and leaving till newly calibrated hygrometer reads 70. I personally like for it to read 70 for 24 hours before putting anything in it.

Is there any catch to this? Like I have to spend XXXX dollars a month or whatever after this deal?

Nope. It's just a teaser offer to get you to order, and hopefully you'll order more stuff in the future.

It's hard to beat their regular prices, let alone their specials.

I'm a JR's guy, but I bought the special. Anxious, like waiting for Santa or Godot.

I finally got my humidor where I want it in between 70-80. I am looking to stock it now and was perusing through CI. I see a lot of specials on 2nd's, has anyone smoked these and have they been noticeably different?

Also, thinking of buying some Alec Bradley's.....any thoughts?

Bradley's Prensado was cigar of the year.

All of Alec Bradley's stuff is top notch, but you pay for it.

If a second comes from a top notch maker then they are usually still very good. Mostly it's cosmetic stuff. Nick Perdomo used to look at every cigar that came out of his place. If a a wrapper leaf had too many veins in it he would toss the cigar into the seconds box. He still probably inspects close to half of them today.

On average I have found that 1 in 3 seconds have some sort of issue, (wrapper wants to unravel, plug, hot spots, uneven burn) but even those are typically still good cigars.

I'm a huge fan of samplers. Like this:

You typically get the best prices, and I like to smoke different ones all the time. I also usually pick up a mazo of decent buck a stick cigars (they are out there) for smoking while I ride the mower around, and for giving to people who aren't really cigar smokers.

Qyrche,

I stopped by the Party Source today and picked up a La Abeja. Apparently one of the guys from PS, Kevin Mckenna developed the stick, it's a Nicaraguan puro produced in Miami by Casa Fernande and is pretty good. The box shows the Cincy skyline from the 1800's. You can't miss it, right as you enter the humidor.

Humidor arrived today. Solid. 10 cigars. 6 of them retail for a minimum of $5/stick, so it paid for itself. Matches my liquor cabinet. Very happy.

Coldweatherfan should get commission for how many of these he sold for this company. :lol2:

I just recently received my first Cuban cigar ( no details on how I got it ) what is the best way to keep it good? Don't plan on smoking it until Derby Day at Turfway!

:lol2: I was thinking that the other day. I picked one of these up this time around.
