I have been told that the contracts for this game have been returned and that it will be played at Mercer County High School on December 14, 2013. Word on the street is that ESPN is supposed to let Coach Britt know by the end of the summer if they will broadcast the game. Lexington and Louisville stations are supposed to be sending news crews down to cover the game as well.

 

There are plans for there to be more games that day as well in a Showcase type of format but if ESPN picks up the game they will need 2 hours to setup and will have to clear the gym.

 

I am unsure of the other teams that will be playing that day but will pass on that info when I find out.

 

I'm not sure who Arlington Country Day has on their team but Prime Prep will be bringing Emmanuel Mudiay and Elijah Thomas with them. I believe both are UK recruits and I believe both already have an offer from UK. Prime Prep was one of the top 8 teams in the nation and played in the National Invitational Tournament that has been going on the past two days on the ESPN family of networks. Arlington Country Day finished the season ranked about 50th in the nation according to MaxPreps and they went 30-4 with 2 losses to Huntington Prep and 2 losses to Rock out of Gainesville, Florida.

 

 

It should be an exciting day in Harrodsburg if this event does hold up and is able to be televised on ESPN as well. Hats off to Coach Brian Britt who continues to do a great job as the coach of Mercer County and also bringing in top notch teams to our area. The Mercer County Christmas tournament always has great teams in it every year. There are always multiple teams in that tournament that make it to the Sweet 16 and that is a testament of the hard work that Coach Britt does to make the tournament a success. This year's Christmas tournament field isn't complete yet but I guarantee that it too will be another very competitive field.

I had heard something about an ESPN game at Mercer but I didn't believe it and I'll believe it when I see it. I do hope it happens though. The gym will be packed if Prime Prep comes. A beautiful sea of blue is what it would be. I just have a hard time believing something like that would end up in Harrodsburg of all places. That's laughable. I do love Coach Britt though. He's a great guy and that Christmas tournament is always well run and does have some quality teams year in and year out. Montgomery County was there this year and they couldn't win that tournament either. That should tell you how tough that tournament is. I think Johnson Central and Warren Central were there too. I hope this happens. I'll be there. Maybe they can get the Mercer County Titans on ESPN and not just their gym.

Have you seen the facility? Its new and compares favorably with most any high school venue in the state. Harrodsburg is centrally located and is one of the nicer small towns in KY. I've been to the gym and it is a great great gym. I wish they would hold the 12th Region tournament there. I'm just laughing at Harrodsburg hosting ESPN. It seems surreal but you are right. There are many more less favorable places to have this kind of event.

If you get a chance to talk with Rex Morgan, he's extremely entertaining. Great guy, very opinionated, and matter of fact. We had a great time with him last December when he was at our place. You'll enjoy Rex. But you better have a watering hole close for his assistants!:sssh:

This is Awesome. I for one will try my best to make this tourney. I have been watching Prim Prep on TV this week and they are loaded. Also with UK recruiting Emmanuel Mudiay and Elijah Thomas will give many the change to see them in person. Keep us updated PP.

 

On the Christmas tourney, it is a great tourney. GRC won it 2 years ago and went on to have back to back state tourney appearances. Keep us updated on this too.
