Newport Catholic 55 Bellevue 42

I gotta hand it to Bellevue for taking NCC to OT after losing by 50 earlier this year. The Wight kid can play..... from what I heard, he handled Beuter and took it to him many times.

Obviously Bellevue is well-coached. Congrats to them. This game surprised me

Jeremy Wight can play with most guards in 9th region, Bellevue only goes 6 deep and they may have 2-3 players if that so just like most small schools, they are not deep and died at the end.

I think NCC won by like 13 in OT. Bellevue should have won, they hit FT's down stretch never makes it to OT.

what happened to NCC?

I was just going to post that they are hands down the biggest disappointment/surprise in the 9th. I still think they can make a run but my faith in them is waning.

I'm not really sure what the final score was but New Cath won by 7 in overtime. Bellevue was leading the whole first half and nearly the whole second half until Senior Jeremy Wight got into foul trouble...It's a shame Bellevue couldn't pull of this upset...

Lets see NCC wins and still you are disappointed with them . Come on a win is a win . Don't dismiss a great effort by Bellevue and give NCC credit for the victory .

They should change their name to the Bi-polars.

Win by 50 over Bellevue, have to go to OT the next time at trailing by 14.

Tie Pendleton County several times at PC lose by 3, lead Scott by 14 and lose by 1.

Lead Dixie and Highlands and lose, come back from the dead in the final seconds to beat Danville.

And it is not something new. Remember last year. Thumped Holy Cross in the All-A final scoring 62 and two weeks later couldn't score more than 37 against Holy Cross. Then go out the next game and beat Holmes at Holmes by double digits.

Paging Dr. Fraiser Crane.

No disrespect to Bellevue but a win is not just a win when your playing a perininal dormat in the 9th region.

I think that if coaches would stay at Bellevue longer than the last ones did that Bellevue would have a better chance at a winning program and not be a "doormat". Mike Swauger's loyalty was to be commended .

Swaugs was a Bellevue Grad, taught there many years so it went hand in hand. He wasnt trying to get a higher paying job where you sit on the bench with a suit with 9 other guys milking the payroll. He enjoyed working with the youth and had some really good teams while there. The 1982 team beat NCC when they were ranked number one in the region in the 1st round of District. 1989 team beat NCC in 1st round of District as well. This year's team if they had Chas Moore(sought greener pastures), Mchale kid (3 pt deadeye) grades threw him under the bus, I think they would be a decent team.

Yeah I know I went to grade school with Mike at Sacred Heart in Bellevue graduated there in '61

No disrespect? You just did disrespect Bellevue. Last time I checked (yesterday I believe it was) Bellevue is a very small public school with less than 500 enrolled in the top 4 grades. Now maybe I'm wrong but I don't see a great deal of success by any other schools fitting that same description. The Bellevue players executed a beautiful game plan to a T and almost pulled off a monumental upset. The players AND the coaches deserve better than your thinly veiled insult. But, what am I thinking? Your opinion really means squat doesn't it? It is a shame though that people absolutely MUST take cheap shots. The NewCath coach himself was a gracious winner when he told each and every player and coach to the effect, "we may have the W but you guys deserve the win." And that's not hearsy, thats a fact, I know, I heard it. Too bad that same sportsmanship doesn't play out there where Big Studs live.
