Buckhorn 97 Wolfe 78

Featured Replies

Riley played a great game & the entire team was solid. Took probably 5 charges & several that were called blocks (charges imo).

Gilbert seemed to try and get everyone involved early but they werent hitting so he took over & at least made it a game late until his shots stopped falling.

Buckhorn played really really hard & wanted this one more!!!

I agree it seemed like Gilbert wanted his teammates to get involved early but their shots just weren't fallin. PLus when they got sown he was probably thinkin that this was going to be his last all a game unless he did something so He took over

Zach Gay had a career night with 29 points last night. This boy is the real deal. Good Luck Buckhorn in the finals.

Buckhorn played really well last, they shot the ball really well and also showed a lot of hustle, and by doing this they deserved the win. One thing I wanted to comment on is all the lack of gratitude the Gilbert kid gets from Wolfe County. Every time he has a big night people want to disrespect him on here by saying that he is a one man show, which in my opinion is totally false. The Gilbert kid is one of the best players to come through this area in a while from what I have seen. So why not give him some graditude when he has a performance of 46 points instead of trying to find something negative to say. In another note Wolfe has no where but up to go, and will be in my opinion a team to reckon with come post season time.

One note I forgot to mention good luck to both Buckhorn and Lee County tonight in the finals, and I have no doubt that which ever team wins they will represent the 14th very well at state.

I agree the Den. It seems that everytime someone has a good game people want to call him a ball hog or something. Would you call it heckling, or jealosy?

I would call it a little of both but most of it being jealousy. I would like to know how many people who talks all the smack have ever scored 46 in a game. I just feel it is a shame to not give credit when credit is due. After watching them Wednesday and last night, they are no doubt that the ingredients for a championship is there, and I for one feel those ingredients will turn into a great product at the end of the year. Back to the Gilbert question, when Wolfe beat Hazard the other night they were some people who got on here and talked about how much better Hicks was then Gilbert even though the Wolves won. I just wonder how many people would have said the same thing had Gilbert scored in the 30's and still got beat.

Another question I would like to ask i show many shots do you think Gilbert missed the whole night? I bet his field goal percentage was around 75%.

This was a great and physical game. Both teams played hard and this was a tough 10 point win for Buckhorn. Zach Gay played great and Jeremy Abner came off the bench and gave Buckhorn a spark. I will give Gilbert credit. He is an outstanding player. In a previous thread I had stated that Bailey was the best I have seen in the region, but I will have to take that back. Gilbert is tough. The only thing I did not like was the way Wolfe Co. committed two (non-called) intentional fouls. That is no way to act. Even if you are losing. I would like to wish Buckhorn good luck in the championship game against a very good Lee Co. team. It shoud be a great game.

Yeah the last couple of fouls could have been called intentional, becuase they were really hard fouls. I will have to say though that I thought Wolfe County's players as a whole kept their cool really well considering Buckhorns fan section was allowed to stand on the court during the whole game. I would like to know where the fire marshal was for last nights game because I can promise you that the people in the gym was way over the seating capacity. Buckhorns kids played hard and I really enjoyed watching them dive after lose balls, but the fans were ridiuclous as well as the security that was there. There should never be a game were the fans are on the floor with the players. If this continues something like the Pacer's/Pistons game will come about, the only difference is that we are dealing with kids and not adults. Poor crowd control last night.

YES! I agree on the crowd control, it was horrible. It is a shame when one teams crowd is able to do more then the other with out getting in trouble. Something needs to be done about that.

Gilbert might be a player but he has a bad attitude that overrides his skill...Wolfe gets what they deserve.

Are you just a little bitter doc, that the Wolves stopped your beloved Bulldogs run to four straight?

Yeah Hazard always gets the raw end of the deal, anytime they get beat somebody cheated or they were just done un-fair.

I don't really think Cody has a bad attitude at all. Off the court, the opportunities I have had to see him, he seems like a geniunely nice kid. On the court he is tenacious and wants to win. I see nothing wrong with that. Perhaps he gets carried away in the heat of the game... but very few kids don't. When Wolfe plays Lee, while I'm watching the game, there are times when I think Gilbert goes "overboard" with his tenacity but that's me as a fan supporting my team.

In all reality, if I were to be objective and honest about it, I have to say that 1. He's a kid who just wants to win, and could be frustrated at being placed in the situation he is in.

2. What teenager doesn't go overboard? Let's be honest, teenager's are ... well teenagers and are just learning how to be adults. I mean come on to expect a teenager to be a perfect gentleman on the court... well that's ludacris. I don't know the situation that has made people think Cody has a bad attitude, but don't take something that occurs one time on the floor in the heat of the moment to represent a kid who has conducted himself repeatedly in an honorable and sportsmanlike fashion.

3. Cody has always proven himself to me to be a great sport.

I'm think Cody is one of the best, if not the best players around. I wish him and the Wolves the best the rest of the season. (and while I will be faithfully cheering for my Bobcats, I still hope only the best for the Wolves).
