March 6, 201313 yr A facebook friend of mine posted the following story: While in Joseph-Beth, a stranger "corrected" Elizabeth (10), saying animals are not allowed in Heaven. Elizabeth believes that all animals will be with us in Heaven. This gives her great comfort, making the loss of her beloved Papaw bearable because he is there with Buster and Opie. If your interpretation of religion does not support this, I do not care, nor am I willing to debate it. For us, it isn't Heaven without our pets. Quietly...although I wanted to yell and punctuate with a smack, I told her "Thank you, you have emphasized why my daughter shouldn't talk to strangers. There are crazies everywhere." This happened last week and I am still irritated. GRRRR!
March 6, 201313 yr Author Irritated about what? That a stranger told her 10 year old daughter something about Heaven she didn't agree with and it upset her daughter.
March 6, 201313 yr ^Okay, that's what I figured. If it were my child, I'd be livid. Someone else's child, while I think it's wrong, I wouldn't lose a second of sleep over it.
March 6, 201313 yr Are animals allowed in Heaven? Debatable. Was the lady out of line butting in with her opinion to a 10 year old? Yes, way out of line.
March 6, 201313 yr The Bible is very clear that there will be animals in heaven: Isaiah 65:25 5 The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain," says the LORD.
March 6, 201313 yr I am interested in the question asked, are animals allowed in Heaven? No one knows if our pets will make it, it is not addressed. For people (who have souls) the Bible teaches they can inherit their place in the Kingdom of God by accepting salvation on God's terms. That offer is not made to animals because the animals have no soul to save. In the Biblical sense, therefore, they cannot secure their own place in Heaven. The Bible also teaches that there will be no pain or suffering in Heaven and we will know no sorrow. Does that mean that I can have Cujo by my side walking the streets of gold because if he isn't, I would be sorrowful? Many believe it does. Just as many believe it doesn't. I've heard arguments on both sides. Either way, I have no business hurting a little girls feelings by poking my nose in where it doesn't belong. Let people believe what they want about it, it doesn't concern me at all. I would be much more interested in the eternal security of the owner than the pet.
March 6, 201313 yr My dog will. Seriously, I believe that they will. But, I also don't buy that animals don't have souls, which is what I've been taught since my earliest age. I dare anyone to tell me my dog doesn't have a soul. I will argue that animals are amongst the purest souls. Animals do not have animosity in them. They have instinct. Some (most) can be taught. I view them similarly to 4 year olds. They are taught and conditioned to behavior, but instinct often overtakes them and reason is a bit beyond them.
See I don't think that is very clear towards that point at all. Is the prophet talking about "The New Heaven" or "The New Earth"? What about the other prophesies in the same passage? For instance: in verse 20 he says a man that dies at age 100 will be thought of as a mere child. There will be no death in Heaven, right? So how could he be talking about Heaven?
March 7, 201313 yr My dogs, those that I have now and the one that I had in the past, will all be in heaven. They have souls, they have heart, and they possessed free will just as we humans do. They were/are companions, loving, loyal, and they are protectors, putting themselves in harms way to protect selflessly when they had the free will to flee. They knew right and wrong and they chose to do right. They are truly God's creatures, surely did God's will while here on earth, and will certainly have a place in heaven.
March 7, 201313 yr Author I am being serious in that this thread now reminds me of Hank Jr. who Clyde thinks has less than zero talent or something like that: If heaven ain't a lot like Dixie, I don't wanna go If heaven ain't a lot like Dixie, I'd just as soon stay home If heaven ain't a lot like Dixie, I don't wanna go If heaven ain't a lot like Dixie, I'd just as soon stay home If they don't have a Grand Ole Opry, like they do in Tennessee, just send me to hell or New York City, it would be about the same to me.
