Well, I hate to be right I said on the prediction thread that the Cats win by 10. I was called "crazy" and my lack of basketball knowledge was questioned. I stated on the Huntington High thread almost the exact score. And I was a little off on this margin by 6 pts or so! I was also right on the Russell - Ashland prediction ( on a side note)! Anyway I am happy for Drew and the boys on a much needed win and I hope they continue to roll on into the Regional Tourney!!!!! AT41 I absolutely think that the avatar is hilliarious, Wayne Breeden was a great Tomcat coach who heated up the Boyd rivalry to make it in my opinion the best in the state of KY. But it has to go the mid 90's are over as much as I absolutely loved them, and give your current coach and boys their due. Which by in large I have to give you credit and say that Ashland is truly lucky to have such a knowledgable and tride and true fan. I love the Ian Holbrook and Drew McDavid is one of my favorite kids give a player their due like you usually due. Be careful not to be disrectful which I don't think you mean to be your intentions are mostly genuine and sincerenin support of your Cats!!

Ok, Blue Blazer I will give you props on your Ashland call, although I did pick them as my upset special, I dont think anyone could see this margin of victory, did you know in advance Owens would be a non-factor? :scared:

but now as to your Russell -Ashland prediction, how did you get that one right when you were picking Ashland? Hindsight is always 20/20, but while you are HOT, would you care to predict how many victories Ashland will end up with this year?

Holy cow! Im in an avatar delimma....

AT41: In honor of this win, I trimmed my beard and changed my avatar. What do you think??

I must say its and upgrade! I just cant get into The Lord of the Rings. Harley's are much cooler!

.....Suit em up and play ball, what does film of a previous game matter....

I'm not sure about basketball, but in football the KHSAA does not allow a school to tape opponents games. That is why coaches arrange to swap game films with upcoming opponents, or they send scouts to the games to take notes.

I'm not saying anyone from Rose Hill did tape the game (I wasn't there), but if they did (and if the same rule applies from football to basketball), then that would be cheating. Not a good thing for any school - certainly not acceptable from a Christian school. As Scooterbob (and others) has stated in other threads, if you have the word "Christian" in the name of your school, you should expect to be held to a very high standard.

Hopefully, this is all a misunderstanding.

...Sounds like another case of Ashland's paranoia about Rose Hill.
- and -

... I'm sure the red phone to the KHSAA will be in full operation come Monday.

Talk about irony ...

Not true Owens did not leave, Owens has some growing up to do,

still has not grasped the concept of the game.In do time he will

grow up ,not saying this is a bad thing, but needs to learn to use

the other four thats on the floor. That will make him a better ballplayer.

The college was Umass, Owens talked to them after the game, and told them

he played selfish ball and was sorry. This was the assistant coach and Travis

Fords dad. They want him at Umass.Good job Ashland nice win!

Tiny: I would like to say to you that you need to continue supporting Owens as you have been. Yes, he certainly has to correct his "attitude" and learn to play "team" ball. I don't believe he has ever played high school basketball and he needs time to learn and adjust. The first step is admitting that he needs to change and he did this with the UMass coaches. Great start Antonio. I have watched him play in Lexington in different leagues, and honestly he has never been taught the game of "team ball". He was always that much better than other players that he just had "free will" in the games. Antonio, I wish the best for you. Understand the sky is the limit for you.

Its crazy isn't it.......

That is what makes it so fun! You never know from night to night! And our predictions make us look stupid!

I heard the same talk from people on the Boyd side. I heard there was a college recruiter in for the game. I believe they said he was from UTEP. Owens was trying to put on a show and not following the game plan. I also heard after Owens was pulled and didn't return the recruiter got mad and left.

If true? Then it would serve Owens right! Basketball is a team sport and the team comes first. One player can't act in his own best interest and expect the team to do well. This same thing happened at Morgan early in the game! Except that Owens settled down and the team started playing better later in the game. If Boyd can solve their internal issues with the players' attitudes and as a team, then they have the potential to win the region. Otherwise, they won't last long in Morehead, if they even get there.

:thumb: I'll give credit where credit is due! I missed this one and you pegged it!

Didn't see this happening. Great win for Ashland.

Frances, my friend and antagonist, I must respond to a couple of your posts.

First, I don't remember stating that the word "Christian" in a school's name means that it should be held to a "very high standard". If I did so somewhere along the line, I retract the statement. This site deals, for the most part, with high school athletics. In that venue, I don't believe a Christian school or any private school should be held to any higher standard than that expected of other schools. The idea that others can attack since they are partisans of a secular school but you cannot respond because you are "not acting in a good Christian manner", as Harry Callihan might say, doesn't get it. Always turning the other cheek, I have learned, only results in two bruised cheeks.

Second, I fully agree with what Rickyp stated in his second paragraph. After all of this time, why do the Ashland radio announcers feel compelled to continue making negative and inflammatory public remarks about Rose Hill? I, and many others, hear the remarks. They are, indeed, made and they are made for a purpose. However, they truly prove that Ashlanders were really hurt pridewise by those two big years. Otherwise, why continue to snipe? You, my friend, are in Oldham County. You are not in a position to know what is said. All of that self-proclaimed tradition and that notorious hotline to KHSAA don't equate to honor and respect. Ashland has, I suppose, the former but one may question whether or not it has the latter.

Then it would serve Owens right!.

I would consider this as another statement from you showing your true HATRED towards a young man that is trying to adjust his life and live up to everyones standards. Give the KID a break, no one is denying that he has a problem. JUST GETTING TIRED OF YOUR BOLD AND HARSH HATRED towards a young man that is in the spotlight game after game.....How would we function under that pressure???? Dont say that you havent made numerous comments, and I know you probably still think he could be great too....Give us a break!

By the way, every team in the 16th Region has a ball-hog, one team has 2, but Owens is of course the only one ever mentioned.

I will still say we love Owens at Boyd, support Owens at Boyd and will continue to cheer the young man on, hoping that he gets his LIFE in order and has a great college career....

Everyone else can just be haters.....

But come Sweet 16 time, might be spectators! :thumb:

The big question is, how does the radio station allow themselves to be embarrased and partial week after week. This radio station covers more areas, and not just Ashland school district. I myself refuse to listen to the station and so has most Boyd Countians. Hopefully the radio station has enough support from Ashland businesses, because I pulled my business donation years ago. The sad part is that Dickie is the best announcer in the state in my opinion, the problem is he loves to degrade other schools. It isnt support for Ashland, it is degrading to other schools, there is a difference.

On the tradition note, there are a lot of Ashland personel now that are thriving and basking in the glory of Ashland's traditon. Ashland has a great tradition, but could be ruined in the present time by some of its present members.

My question is "Cant we all just get along??????" :thumb:

How much fun would that be ??!?! :D
