All the scoreboard says is that Somerset was the better team that night which is all Somerset had to be but I'd argue that Boyle is the better team.

No the missed free throws say so .The only stat somerset won was the final score that is the only one that counts. Boyle was the better team just did not make their free throws . I'm not taking anything away from somerset they deserve the win just don't make out that they should have won by a lot more they were lucky and lucky is sometimes better than good

Wins over Pulaski County (23-7), Wayne County (25-7), Boyle County (15-13), Harrison County (20-12 and in the semis of the 10th Region), Estill County (in the semis of the 14th), Jackson County (18-11 on the year), Clinton County (18-11 on the year). 2-0 vs Danville.

 

Boyle County: 15-13, 8-6 in the 12th Region. Wins over Woodford County (16-15 on the year also lost to Woodford), East Jessamine (23-8), Knox Central (17-14), Madison Southern (17-12). Those were their only wins vs teams with a winning record. None of those teams won a game in their regional tourneys. Also 1-1 vs Danville.

I get what both sides are saying and to some degree both sides are correct. Somerset on paper coming in should have been favored if you look at records against common opponents. Boyle by all accounts seemed to have out played Somerset Tuesday night but came up short (due to horrifically bad free throw shooting) at the end on the score board.

I'm unbiased and have seen both teams play. I think that game was indicative of how equal they are - it is a toss-up. And I agree Wayne has a good young group that's already good on the varsity level (although I think Wayne only starts 1 sophomore). The only criticism I have is the comment about Somerset winning the 12th region freshman tournament. I wouldn't read too much into that. Less than half of the teams participated in it AND many of the best freshmen didn't even play even if theii teams did enter.

I agree because if you compare opponents one could say uk should have won the national championship the year they beat LSU in football and yes not all the freshman teams played or all the best freshman.congrates to somerset enjoy the ride .Good team they have a very good chance to live out I'm sure a dream they have had for a long time.

They do have the chance as they are one of 4 still alive! It appears that the two most talented teams are gone. At this point, no outcome will surprise me. Although I think Wayne or West would be favored, neither are close to dominant. Any of the 4 can win if they have good games. Should be fun to watch.
