Somerset 51 Boyle County 50

I agree because if you compare opponents one could say uk should have won the national championship the year they beat LSU in football and yes not all the freshman teams played or all the best freshman.congrates to somerset enjoy the ride .Good team they have a very good chance to live out I'm sure a dream they have had for a long time.
I'm not quite following you but the only thing holding UK back from winning the 2007 national title after beating LSU was losing to South Carolina, Florida, Miss. St., Georgia, and Tennessee. I guarantee UK would have been playing for the national championship if they win those 5 games. I'm almost positive LSU was favored in 2007 on paper just like Somerset would probably be favored over Boyle on paper this year in basketball.

As far as the freshman, I agree with you. I'm sure Wayne didn't have Blevins or Stearns playing in the tournament.

Still 2 games to go, but this tournament is anyones to win. Maybe next year Somerset and Boyle could schedule a regular season game. With all the love our fans have given to each other on this thread it would probably be a fun game to look forward to. Good luck next year.

I get what both sides are saying and to some degree both sides e correct. Somerset on paper coming in should have been favored if you look at records against common opponents. Boyle by all accounts seemed to have out played Somerset Tuesday night but came up short (due to horrifically bad free throw shooting) at the end on the score board.

If you're going to blame it on free throws don't forget one of the Jumpers best free throw shooters missed the front a one and one with about 30 seconds to go or Boyle would have been down 3 shooting the bonus at the end. You can't expect one team to hit free throws and not the other. Where Boyle lost the game was their inability to handle the full court press in the first and fourth quarters. Somerset had to back off the pressure due to foul trouble in the second and thid quarters. When they turned up the heat the Rebels wilted. If Boyle could have handled the press they win by 10. If the Jumpers stay out of foul trouble in the first half and press the whole game they win by 15. Neither happened.

SHS - you are correct. I saw comments elsewhere about the freshman regional so I did some checking. Wayne didn't even enter the freshman regional, nor did Southwest. Boyle did but their 2 best freshmen that get some varsity time didn't play. Garrard has a strong freshman group but they didnt enter. Somerset beat Mercer in the championship (I heard it was a single digit game). Mercer was without 2 of their freshmen that are varsity only, one of which led them in scoring in their (varsity) win against Southwest Tuesday night. Freshman regional tourneys, much like the JV regionals, often aren't what they appear.

Fair enough. Now respond to my post where you felt the better team did not win and point out how Boyle's resume was better than Somerset's and that the Rebels were in fact, the better team.

I never mentioned Boyle's resume. I use my eyes. Why do I think Boyle is better? I saw both teams play. I think Boyle is better. I have seen Mercer play. I have seen Southwestern play. I think Southwestern was the better team. One game, win or go home, anything can happen. Doesn't mean the best team will win.

There you go.

Now back to work. :D

I still think the foul at end was weak, think 2 fouls on Williams were Bad. I'm sure there were bad calls the other way. One thing for sure in Sports Would , could, and should don't get it. Good Luck to Boyle Co. next year, hope them and Somerset Plays.

Not blaming it on anything, just pointing out what in the end cost them the game, what were they 3-11 from the line. Credit to the Jumpers for winning the game!!!
