All State Baseball Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Final from the 53rd. Complete domination by the Lions. I guess they were a little peeved after what Letcher tried to do.
All State Baseball Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 They tried to get two of Cordia's best players (Owootoah and King) ineligible for tonight's district game. Even went to court over it. Judge ruled them eligible this morning.

SvFan4life Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Also, Letcher was winning by 4 at halftime.
All State Baseball Posted February 20, 2013 Author Posted February 20, 2013 What did they say was wrong about the two players? That they hadn't played prior to February 1st is what I was told. Not sure how accurate all this is, just going by what I was told. Wireman may have more info on this situation. I tried getting the scores from some of the region games but Estill's wifi isn't working so I wasn't able too
Wireman Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 I'll post about court situation tomorrow. As for game, very competitive first half, all Cordia in 2nd. Bob Huggins and a Villanova assistant were there to watch Owootoah. I had him with 10 pts, 4 ast. Cordia scorebook had 10 pts, 8 ast.
Wireman Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Some folks were unhappy that Cordia left starters in to the final buzzer and that they hit two 3's in final minute and shot another at the horn.

Rhodes was probably ticked about a Letcher's attempt to have his players ruled ineligible. But he shouldn't have taken his wrath out on Letcher's kids for something done by the Letcher administrators. Or......he may have just wanted to keep his best players in the game as long as possible for the college recruiters. Either way it doesn't look good on him.

High schools can sometimes be more than generous with their state sheets when it comes to rebounds, assists and blocked shots. A team that used to be in our district had a kid a few years ago that always had 15 to 20 rebounds and 8 to 10 blocked shots whenever they reported the scores to the Lexington H-L or WYMT. But we knew that in the games against us what was reported was not even close to being accurate. When we scouted their team against other teams he would have 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots but the next day in the newspaper he would have 21 rebounds and 9 blocked shots, lol.
HICKORY Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 What did they say was wrong about the two players? Besides the fact they came from Canada and play at Cordia? No ill will towards the wonderful community of Cordia (as I have said before) but when will the madness stop?
The Professor Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Besides the fact they came from Canada and play at Cordia? No ill will towards the wonderful community of Cordia (as I have said before) but when will the madness stop? What's the difference in someone transferring from Canada than someone transferring from a few counties away or Tennessee or West Virginia. A transfer is a transfer anyway one looks at it. Transfers and recruiting have been going on in Kentucky high school ranks since the KHSAA has been around. Jefferson County makes it look easy. They call it "open enrollment". That's why the same powerhouses stay powerhouses year after year in that county.
Wireman Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Just for the record, the college coaches left with 4:29 to go... Rhodes was probably ticked about a Letcher's attempt to have his players ruled ineligible. They are staying more than one year so it isn't a foreign exchange situation. The only issue I have is that they aren't held to the same standard as domestic transfers seem to be. And I'll say it again, we are headed down the path of club basketball. High school sports are soon going to be very different than what we are used to.
2-3-Zone Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 Some folks were unhappy that Cordia left starters in to the final buzzer and that they hit two 3's in final minute and shot another at the horn. Maybe it had something to do with LCC running up the score on Cordia last season. Letcher ended up winning that game by 89pts if I remember correctly.
