Sorry to say, yes I do. Do you happen to know how Lincoln got more than a few lame duck legislators to vote his way?

Back in the day there were politicians just as deceitful as today but the biggest difference is that today with instance news and Internet Blogs it is out in the open more. Don't be so naive to think it didn't!

To be fair, even GWB came up with nuggets of wisdom on occasion.

Too predictable.

Too predictable.

As predictable as you whining about it. What's wrong -- Dubya an old frat buddy or something?

Since I really have no idea who she is or what she is about it(I'm gonna guess a black democrat) makes it much easier to take in her statement the way it should be taken. Without bias or judgment. I know plenty of stupid people who say something that makes sense every now and then.

She probably isn't one of them.

Politicians in Lincoln's time didn't have career goals and huge financial gain in mind when they "served".

Wouldn't that be the same as saying politcians in the late 1700s didn't have our modern day weaponry in mind when they made the 2nd amendment?

Don't care what here skin tone is or what party she's affiliated with, I'm just talking about the stupid things that come out of her mouth often.

And I'm talking specifically about this specific statement she made. Not the other stupid things that came out of her mouth.

Have you read the Book "Team of Rivals" or have you watched the movie? If you did, you wouldn't call what Congress (although it was the correct thing to do) did was come together, what they did or at least to me, what they did, was what Congress does today, that is line their own pockets and or take care of themselves first, and that is how the bill was passed!

Then they should come together and line their pockets accordingly like they did in Lincoln's time. Obviously they came together to end slavery right? I didn't question how or why they came together but they did come together, right?

And I'm talking specifically about this specific statement she made. Not the other stupid things that came out of her mouth.
But that's the problem, she's shown how stupid she really is, so it's hard to take it as something worthwhile. She's too over the top and has the track record for ignorance. How do you gauge stupidity?

Quite true, Lincoln and his team bought and paid for their votes, well he offered them jobs, after the lame duck member had lost their local elections and before the new members were sworn in, without those members greed or taking care of themselves, well.....

BTW President Lincoln Emancipation Proclamation was a Presidential Executive war order, not to actually free the slave as you might think but to free them from the war duties that the South was using the slaves for!

Lincoln main task wasn't really to do away with slavery but to restore the Union and if he could do both great but he felt his first duty was to restore or save the Union and not to do away with slavery!

So the whole point that she made is invalid because she's stupid?

So her statement is stupid because it is historically inaccurate?

Saying something that isn't quite true isn't the way to get an important point across.

It worked out for the better and it was the correct thing to do, it just wasn't the most important thing as many would like to believe in Lincolns mind.

I'd suspect that 9 out of 10 people believe Lincoln freed the slaves and not just the war time duties they were freed of.

Oh I agree but it was because it was a way to preserve the Union.

Think about this if you will! If the CSA had won, how much later or when would freeing slaves have take place in the Confederate States of America?
