Actually he did get a lot of attention for his baseball. Was actually considered by a couple MLB Teams who thought about drafting him. Football is his first love and he wanted to play it at the next level and that is why he chose football over baseball.

Wish he would have taken baseball more seriously, he could be on a D1 Baseball scholly if he worked a little bit more at it and took it as serious as football. But he is, albeit a walkon, playing in a D1 football team. Great kid and goodluck to him as he works hard to get on the field this fall

 

It's very difficult to get a full D1 baseball scholarship. Only about 12 scholly's per team, and many get divided into smaller chunks. And they usually get yanked after your Junior year. Much easier (although still incredibly difficult) to get a ride in football and you'll likely get to keep it. If he does well, he'll get the scholarship after this year, and likely end up with more paid for than if he had taken the baseball ride.

I really believe Cameron will make an impact during his time at UK. It is still mind-boggling to me that he didn't receive more (if any) D-1 offers. I can really seeing him excelling in this new offense and being successful in the Dickey Lyons/Derek Abney mold.

I think there are 2 reasons he didn't get more D1 offers and that is because 1: he played Baseball also which takes place during the same time most football camps take place so I don't know how many camps he's gone to, but that is where you get noticed more than anything else.

and

2: His size. I think a lot of D1 programs put so much weight on size, especially the bigger programs. He definitely has the speed needed for D1, but if he were 6-3 or even taller he would of got a lot more attention imo.

 

Either way, I think he was one of the best in the state last year, if not the best. I am rooting for him big time and would love to hear after this year that he was given a full ride from UK as he really is deserving.

 

It's been a blast watching him play from the time he was in pee wee through his senior season. He alone was the difference in the Cooper Conner game last year, he played like a man among boys.

If I could add one more thing about Cam, that is when I said I think he was one of the best if not the best football player in the state last year, I really meant it. We played against Timmons as well as Fogle. Timmons got a scholarship from UK, Fogle didn't, Fogle in my unbiased opinion was the better player. at least in the games I watched of both players. That is not belittling Timmons at all, he is such an outstanding player and deserved everything and all the accolades he got, what it is however is stating I think Fogle should of and deffinatley deserved a scholarship from UK. He was the better player and did so much more.

 

I also understand that Colleges give athletic scholarships based on potential and how they feel the athlete can help their team, I only hope Fogle gets the opportunity to actually play and isn't pushed to the side simply because he isn't a scholarship athlete in place of someone who is on a full ride simply because they are on a full ride..

Just a question about that...we know KY is light at receiver talent this year, but they have what could possibly end up with a top 10-15 recruiting class coming in next year. What's that do to his chances? Really am curious.

I agree which is why I'm really hoping he gets a shot this year. Once he has a chacne to show what he can do it's harder for the coaching staff to forget about hiim and let the so called High Recruits come in and push Cam to the back of the line. Just give him a shot this year is all I'm hoping for (besides him being healthy his career).

Fogle will not let anyone "push him to the back of the line".. Not a chance.

IF Fogle played a big a role as I heard he did in convincing Barker to commit to UK, and if Barker played a big of a role as I heard he did in getting others in his class to commit to UK, Fogle may turn out to be the most valuable preferred walk on in the history of UK football. And that's not even taking into consideration any contributions he makes on the practice or game field.

True, they have a talented class coming in next year, as well as some stud receivers. If I know Cameron, and I think I do, that will further propel him to work his tail off. Competition can be a very good think and make each player, as well as the team, much better. Best of luck to him! I keep looking for his name, knowing he should be able to do something this year. If he gets his chance, sometimes thats all it takes! He'll have a year on some of the studs coming in, which is nice also.

Cam caught a TD tonight in team scrimmage at "Fan Day". About 10,000 people came to Commonwealth Stadium to watch open practice. Nice event put on by the team. Autograph sessions before practice, and fireworks afterwards.

I asked Jeff Drummond about his play last night. Said he did very well. Really likes him.

Playing with Cam (they're thick as thieves) was certainly a factor. However, first and foremost was the new staff. If Drew didn't buy into Coach Stoops and Coach Brown he wasn't going - no matter who else was going there. Once Drew started getting excited about th enew staff then Cam became a factor.
