June 23, 201313 yr Author Well, today (Monday afternoon) we get to be at the visionary Maria's private chapel, just for us! We will be there for her apparition! And today is the 32nd anniversary of the first apparition in Medjugorje, so it's a very special event for us! We may also get invited to Ivan's apparition later tomorrow on Apparition Mountain, which is usually reserved just for his prayer group. Also, the Masses here are AMAZING!

June 24, 201313 yr Author What a different world that must be. What percentage of Catholics here in the U.S. would ever say that a "Mass was amazing"? First, we have also been invited to Ivan's apparition tonight, which is usually just for his prayer group, so busy day for us. I have video of some parts of the outside Masses, which are in Croatian, as we as audio of some of the English Masses (I didn't want to be holding the camera up during Mass, even though people do it and they are okay with it), and it is, it is amazing! They have Mass in different languages all day, so a lot of people going to Mass, as well as the praying of the rosary, and the adoration. There are over 60,000 people now in this little town of about 5,000, and you can just feel something here that is hard to explain, but being around all these people from all over the world, praying and meeting, I can only think that being at the Vatican for a special occasion would possibly be better. I highly recommend coming here, especially of you are Catholic! Walking up Apparition Mountain, and Cross Mountain (both the rockiest places I have ever seen, and some do it bare footed, is a great experience. Some people carrying handicap people up, and even total strangers going up to people carrying up their handicap family member or friend and saying "switch", and the total strangers carry up the handicap person, until another group of strangers come up and again say "switch". An amazing site! When I get home ill post at audio part on my YouTube page, and Ill work something out for the 100's of pics I have taken so far.
June 24, 201313 yr Author Me praying at top of Apparition Mountain. You also lay photos of friends and family at Our Lady's feet and it is said she goes before God and asks for special Blessings and graces for those in the photos. Today I will leave those photos with Maria as she will place the photos at the feet of her Virgin Mary statue.
June 24, 201313 yr Thank you for all of the details SG. I hope to hear more about your experience. I have been to The Basilica of the Blessed Virgin of Guadelope on her feast day. I have been to the Vatican during Holy Week. The most impactful and life-changing experience in my spirtitual 'journey' was when I went to Lourdes when a friend was a malade during his pilgrimage; a candelight vigil with about 10,000 people alternating singing in several languages, the cleansing at the grotto, an incredible experience at the life-size stations of the cross (lead by a Bishop from Italy). I would encourage you to add Lourdes to your bucket-list.
June 25, 201313 yr Author Ill have better pics when I come back, but this photo was from about 9:30pm last night on my iPhone. These sites are also the rockiest hills I've seen in my life, yet you have people in their 80's that climb them as well, and also at night. If you ever come here I would highly recommend the Hotel Palace! A local family runs the hotel and the food is great, very very good home cooked meals. But, I would recommend a room in the part that connects to her house, as there is individual A/C in each room, the main hotel has a central A/C and some rooms are not too cold. They are building an addition but not sure when it will be done, or how they will have the A/C. Plus these are typical European hotel rooms, so don't expect the Ritz Carlton.
June 26, 201313 yr Walked past this statue here in Medjugorje and thought of BirdsFan I just now stumbled across this thread and was surprised to see this! St. Pio of Pietrelcina is my patron saint. My family and I have held a deep devotion to him for as long as I can remember. I have a couple of his 3rd class relics and one that was blessed by Pope John Paul II which I wore on my wrist for three years when I was critically ill. A priest friend had traveled through a snowstorm to be with my family and deliver that medal to my bedside in the hospital. This was during the same time that the doctor told my family that they should say their goodbyes, because I wasn't going to make it. Read about Padre Pio and you will be amazed at his story. I'm hoping to visit Rome, The Vatican and St. Pio's tomb in San Giovani Rotundo sometime in 2015, Lord willing. As anyone can tell you, I am a great believer in subtle signs from God. I think it's fascinating that someone I know only on a website, travelled all the way to Italy, made a connection between Padre Pio and me and sent back this picture of him. That has to mean something. Thanks for thinking of me, Sportsguy! Edited June 26, 201313 yr by Birdsfan

June 26, 201313 yr My Father met him ( Padre Pio ) during his service in WWII .Yeah, I remember you mentioning that. I would have loved to be able to talk to your father about him.
June 26, 201313 yr Now that's a miracle!I do believe that was one. There have been a few others as well.
June 27, 201313 yr Dying to know how to pronounce what appears to be a totally unpronounceable word. (Medge-eh-goor-ee)
