July 11, 201313 yr I had lunch with a priest friend the other day. I talked to him about your trip and experiences there. At first, he was saying he was very skeptical about the apparitions there, especially in light of the fact that the local bishop there had not sanctioned it. Then I showed him your picture....and then the close up, without the red markings. Within a couple of seconds, he was like, "Oh...wow!"
July 11, 201313 yr Author I have been there. We stayed with villagers. Ice was a luxury. I enjoyed many Pivo's. We walked barefoot up a couple mountains covered with cross's. I was a college student and took the pilgrimage very serious but still had trouble with the idea of it all. My youthfullness took over and it became more of a drink fest and ended up hooking up with the young tour guide in Dubrovnik. Beautiful country just before the civil war there. Not sure what it's like now.For some reason Eastern Europeans don't like too much ice, if any at all. From what I could see of Croatia and Bosnia, it's still beautiful. Also, during the war, not one bomb dropped in the valley where Medjugorje is located.

July 11, 201313 yr Author The Blessed (another 6 months he will be a Saint) John Paul was known to have a thing for Medjugorje, he met with all of the visionaries when he was alive, except for Ivan, but he didn't want to upset the theologians. But Ivan did eventually get to see John Paul, Ivan's next apparition after John Paul passed Mary shown up with someone, it was John Paul, so he did get to meet him. And recently, I think it was Pope Benedict, blessed a statue of the Queen of Peace (of Medjugorje) in the courtyard of the Vatican. As I also tell a few people, at the time many people didn't know what to think of Fatima and Lordes, same with Medjugorje now. Three years ago the Vatican started a formal investigation, this could take many years to complete, and the local bishop is not going to step on the feet of the Vatican.
July 11, 201313 yr Author It must be the same throughout Europe. We have a family member from Germany. She said they never use ice. In some of the eastern Europe countries I thought is was that the water is not very good, and it's hard to find a 16 or 20 oz size bottle of water, as they come much larger.

Also, during the war, not one bomb dropped in the valley where Medjugorje is located. Well, they bombed the heck out of Mostar and Dubrovnik after I was there. It was sad. They didn't bomb Medjugorje b/c there's nothing there. They decimated the larger towns.
July 11, 201313 yr Author Hope you get the chance to go back! We flew into Dubrovnik and had a car drive us to Medjugorje, the driver hugged the coast of the Adriatic Sea, and kept going in and out of Croatia and Bosnia about 4 times total, with the border checkpoints. BEAUTIFUL! The scenery is perfect! I was telling some people, if I ever win the lottery or end up with a lot of extra money, that I would build a vacation home there, and I have seen a lot of the world, and the Croatian and Bosnian part would rank up at #1 or #2. If I can arrange it around some other events, I plan on going back the end of next June, and a few other people I know have said they are very interested as well. But this time I think I will rent a car, and take a few days in the begining and the end to just drive that area. Edited July 11, 201313 yr by SportsGuy41017

In post #1 back in January, you were wondering if you should go!
