I received this email from Coach Booher. Highlands fans, please spread the word around the Ft Thomas community as well.

Holmes High School is proud to announce that the movie crew that is filming the movie, IMPACT: AFTER THE CRASH The Story of the 1988 Carrollton Kentucky Bus Crash, will be at Holmes’ gym on Friday, February 1 st for the boys basketball game against Highlands. The crew will be using footage from this game in the movie which is scheduled to be released this spring. Coach Booher and the boys basketball team would like to invite everyone out in support of the filming of this movie. The theme for the night is “WHITE OUT” and we ask that all fans from both schools wear white to the game in support of the movie and for the footage that will be filmed for the movie. Some of the survivors from the crash will be in attendance and be recognized before the opening tip. Hope to see you at the game wearing white.

HHS fans do not show up in Ft Thomas. Why are they going to show up at Holmes?

Didn't know they were making a movie about that. Glad to see they are though. I remember the days following the crash like they just happened. I was seven, and it was the first time I had the realization that you didn't have to be an "old person" to die - kids die too. I remember lots of conversations at home and school about the situation, and news stories out the yin-yang.

 

Larry Mahoney is a name I'll never forget. Kinda hard to believe that that guy is out of prison.

Here's one of the videos from the movie website. Says Mahoney was given a 16 year sentence, and was released after serving 9 1/2 years..."less than 6 months for each person killed". Gotta be honest, I have a pretty hard time with that - BAC more than twice the legal limit, drive drunk and end 27 lives (most of them teenagers), and do less than 10 years in jail for it? That ain't right.

Yes, Coach Booher was a student on the bus. He has spoken about it on a national level. The December tournament with Scott, Harrison Co. and Russell was an opportunity to promote his cause against DWI, as he calls it. This is more important to him than basketball. He will do whatever it takes to support this cause. If you ever get an opportunity to hear him speak aout it, you won't be disappointed.

I believe Coach Booher also travels around the state throughout the year to speak at different venues.

 

When he first got up here he spoke at Florence Baptist on Mt. Zion.
