I think he would have been pre-1960.

Ok, it was killing me, so I had to look it up. The name is definitely a recognizable name by most older Reds fans. I never saw him play as a Red, but I definitely knew the name. I will say I never would have guessed him in a million years though.

He was a multiple All-Star with the Reds and finished top 25 in MPV voting a couple of times in his career.

But looking back at the question, it gives a little clue if you remember those teams.
