Another big 35th district battle Tuesday night in Park Hills.

Holmes comes in 16-0 after a 68-65 win over Holy Cross to improve to 1-0 in district play.

Covcath comes in 13-1 after a 61-38 win over Beechwood to improve to 1-0 in district play.

Covcath has also currently won 7 straight.

Holmes has won 10 straight against the Colonels. Last time CCH beat Holmes was in the 2007 district championship. Is this the year the Colonels finally get over the hump?

Obviously Holy Cross will have something to say about it, but winner likely gets the 1 seed which makes this game that much more important.

Thoughts?

Can a mod add a poll please?

This will be a fun game to watch.

No clue on how to predict this one. Haven't seen Holmes this year. I think someone else besides Nick R is going to have to hit outside shots though.

I would expect a packed house.

Toss up in my opinion. Extremely important for both teams, which is obvious. Probably need to get tere early. Holmes has waon a bunch lately in this series. The law of averages has to catch up some time. Nick R will get his, will somebody else step up for CCH is the question. The 'dogs cannot sleep walk through portions of this game as they tend to do in a lot of games. The'dogs have to make Nick R. work hard the total game with intense pressure. Holmes has to take care of the ball better than they normally do.

Holmes 67-60

The one area I can see Holmes really giving Covcath problems is on the glass. Englemon will be a problem for Covcath at both ends, as will Chames.

The Ruthsatz v Bolden match up alone will be worth the price of admission. Both handle the ball extremely well and can pull up from anywhere on the floor with consistency.

Should be a packed house and a good game. Regardless of who wins, I don't think the margin will be by more than 7 or 8. Covcath certainly has the home court advantage.

My predictions and you can take it to the bank that it will happen:

Whomever looses, will state "Wait until the District, then we will beat you"! :D

I for one can only hope that like last year, when Holmes was the winning team and the Holmes student body came over to the CovCath side of the gym, with their hand extended to offer a hand shake and to congratulate the CovCath Crazies on a great game, that whomever wins does the same thing.

Was without a doubt, one of the most touching scenes after a HS basketball games that I have ever seen, that is kids from different schools and different parts of the community, coming together after a game and talking to each other.

Hopefully it happens again this year also but with the CovCath winning and the CovCath Crazies coming over to the Holmes side with their hand extended and offering congratulation to the Holmes student body!

Holmes has too much on the glass and Bolden is coming into his own as one of the best.

If the Dogs go cold from the perimeter they may be in trouble though.

I think Nick R shines in this one and its neck and neck.

Holmes 54

CCH 52

What is the tie-breaker if Holmes CCH and HC all finish 2-1 in district?

What is the tie-breaker if Holmes CCH and HC all finish 2-1 in district?

I think it is a blind draw.

Some interesting match ups in this one:

Bolden v Ruthsatz

Palmer v Frederick

Coston v Pauly

Englemon v Schuh

Chames v Tobler (Not sure if it will be him or Wichmann that starts??)

Holmes will look like the team they were in the first half against HC.

Holmes 65

CovCath 57

Holmes 72-66.

Colonels win by 4 & extend that winning streak to eight games.

I've got a seat for you if you want to drive to Park Hills.
