I know times have changed but Trame didn't have any issues in the early/mid '90s with his style. I still wish he would have landed in Independence one year early, he would have two 9th region titles on his mantle.

Trame has been very successful in his 3+ years at Walton. Going into this season, his teams are 53-35. They have been District winner (first time in school history), district runner-up, 2 regional appearances and All A 8th Region champion. I think his accomplishments speak for themselves. It's interesting that the natives are "calling for his head" this year. Could the real problem be the group of disgruntled natives? They can't blame it on lack of success.

Don't you? It's crazy to think any thing else. You give me 5 talented players playing against your 5 untalented players and I will beat you every time. We've all seen games where coaching had nothing to do with the outcome of the game just because one team was more talented than the other. How many championships are won with teams that have no talent?

You're stating the obvious. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you take 5 talented players they will most often beat 5 untalented players. If you have talented players, yes - you certainly have a higher percentage chance of winning..whether you have good coaching or not.

In basketball a kids confidence, aggressiveness & natural instincts are atleast 75% of game....you have a highly talented kid looking over his shoulder, playing timid & indecisive you have made him very average. Players can only get better when allowed to make plays, play with instincts & confidence.

However, now you have lost a lot of talent over the last year or so due to people not wanting to play for Coach Trame. You have middle school/freshman teams that are a mess....and you have a head coach that takes no interest in what's going on at the middle school level. In my opinion, that's a recipe for disaster. Now, there are people who care about the entire program and want to see kids developed and taught the correct things...if thats what is called "disgruntled natives" then yes, I guess there are several.

It is naive and silly to think that Walton has a monopoly on selfish and temperamental parents. In my experience they are at every school.

Bottom line...WV feeder program developed by Coach Sullivan...players loved game, improved every year, rarely lost on court, & kids outside of WV wanted to move into program. They now reach jv & varsity level...kids frustrated with system, top talent leaving, & WV losing on court to same teams & players they have never lost to.

 

This should be years WV is dominating on the "A" level & seriously competitive on big boy level. Instead program in decline. Just very frustrating for everyone who helped develop these players & program. I'm sure very frustrating for coach Trame also.

Congratulations...belated. I would assume you'll stay in the WV Schools District. In spite of those "complaining parents", it is an excellent choice of schools. My kids love it and are excelling!
