March 7, 201313 yr Joined to to shed the truth about MSU. Duffy was a great coach and will be missed on their staff. Very instrumental in one of the most dominate offenses in FCS. MSU has top notch locker rooms, and new PE bldg that the athletes train in and the best field surface in KY bar none. Whoever talks about their facilities doesn't know what they are talking about. Their stadium does need some work. Nobody around here NAIA or D-2 is close to MSU in any area and that includes high school. Anyone who says otherwise is not truthful. Their top players get plenty of aid. Prolly 20 or so get aid, endowments, or some help and about 4-5 prolly pay nothing. Any other questions about MSU please ask me as I will tell you the truth Do you work there? Just sayin because anyone can say exactly why you said or the opposite an claim it as the truth ya know.

March 7, 201313 yr Your welcome NikeMan. Just want to shed the truth about a very good school and a football program that is doing very well and with the new staff, maybe coming on more.
March 7, 201313 yr The only way for Morehead to keep playing Division I basketball is to remain in I-AA football or drop the sport. If they went to Division II, III, or NAIA for football they would have to go for all sports.
March 8, 201313 yr Your welcome NikeMan. Just want to shed the truth about a very good school and a football program that is doing very well and with the new staff, maybe coming on more. Their top players get aide? I have known about 20 players that have played at MSU, maybe more 20 of them that were multiple year starters, some of which earned national, conference, or division honors. What do they all have in Common?? They recieved absolutely no Aide other than what every other student qualifies for. Maybe the new staff is bringing out some changes. But honestly not sure the school is saying the same thing as the football program. Time will tell. Look at the hiring of a new coach, could have been a statement about the direction of the football program. Nothing against the new coach, but seriously you hire from within, and then proceed to fire every coach on staff????? Doesn't really say your on the way up does it??? Again from the outside looking in.

March 11, 201313 yr You said it....outside looking in......have no idea so just keep your eyes open..... LOL, yea I said it, it was figure of speech, we will see what happens, I did not much care for Ballard either the few times I met him, and most of the guys I know who played for him were not a fan either. So while I think there will be probably be some improvement. Morehead still has to sell alot of Oscar Mayer Bologna, to get kids to come there for free. March 11, 201313 yr AND..another thing if there were all these plans of upgrades and changes wouldn't it be public knowledge of big news, has there been any press on anything like this?
March 11, 201313 yr Where did you get this info from? That's an NCAA rule. All Division I basketball teams must either play Division I or I-AA football, or not field a football team. That rule is the same across all Division I sports. There are a couple schools grandfathered in for D1 hockey (Colorado College, for one) and lacrosse (Johns Hopkins). All D-I schools must field teams in at least seven sports for men and seven for women or six for men and eight for women, with at least two team sports for each gender. There are several other NCAA sanctioned minimums and differences that distinguish Division I from Divisions II and III. In addition to the schools that compete fully as D-I institutions, the NCAA allows D-II and D-III schools to classify one men's and one women's sport (other than football or basketball) as a D-I sport, as long as they had been sponsoring those sports prior to the latest rules change in 2011.[7] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_1
March 11, 201313 yr Giving any aid other than what is allowed academically would surely be a violation, as none of the other conference members offer anything. Good call on the locker room and the PE building. However, the training room and weight room are pathetic. The stadium is old and worn out. The facilities at Scott or Dixie Heights are better- stadium, turf, locker room, weight room and training.

March 12, 201313 yr They lift and train in the new PE bldg. They do get some form or aid to select few as most of the othere kids get taken care of thru financial aid. Other programs in conference also provide some form of aid as well. Davidson, and their outragious tuition, does alot. Duffy and McCutchen not being kept on staff is very alarming as they helped MSU become one of the best offenses in FCS. First class locer rooms, best turf bar none state wide, and upgrades coming to coaches offices and stadium structure. Great place to attend school and play football.
