Confirmed yesterday, Holmes is open. I asked for a reason and was given a look with the words "no comment".

Talked to some people last night and nobody will comment on what happened or why he resigned.

 

The only thing they did when I asked was kind of get a smirk on their face and say "he has just decided to move on."

 

I asked was he forced out?

 

"He's just moving on. He has resigned."

I've heard the same.

 

I think Nevels would be a great hire. Young, energetic, and can really relate to the kids both on and off the field.

 

Was also told that he now has his teaching degree as well which would make him eligible.

 

I asked Dearborn last night if he was interested or being considered and he said "I'm not sure how many years I have left in coaching."

 

I believe he has a son that plays basketball on the freshman team so I'd assume he will be around for atleast 3 more years?

I think Jason Moore would be a great choice as well. He is a Covington Native, loves Holmes and has excellent repoir with the kids. I believe he is still a Teacher either at the High School or the Middle School.

Holmes is a tough program to coach. They frequently have the highest first quarter attrition rate for dropouts in the state. Gotta be tough to coach a teams whose roster loses 15+ players between August 20th and October 31st.

Are you sure about your claim? I have heard that is not the case. As a matter of fact I'm of the understanding that enrollment has increased at Holmes this year.

 

A few problems that are going to be a challenge for any new coach.

 

Previous coach didn't pay much attention or put much effort into the JV and frosh programs. You have to constantly be building your base and for the future. For whatever reason, that didn't happen. He had a nice base coming in.
