but seriously i have always found that funny to because Cov. Cath usually comes with originial and creative comebacks and i guess everyone feels that is the only thing they can say to them.

If you don't play CCH, your team doesn't get radio coverage. Of course, it's the same way during football season, too. Maybe gametime could break into radio broadcasts too, so other local teams could get radio airtime!

Northern Kentucky Sports.com has attempted to do just that. They carried a full slate of football games and do occasional basketball games of interest. They carry all of CovCath and Brossart's internet broadcasts for free as well as games that they produce and put on the web themselves at a charge of $5 and all of the broadcast replays for free.

 

Unfortunately these broadcasts haven't been well received because fans balk at the $5 charge per game. The costs strictly cover their expenses and they are not close to breaking even on this enterprise.

 

We have been broadcasting Brossart games live on the web for four years now and CovCath has been doing theirs for the past two. They are not that tough to do. You need a laptop computer, a live analogue (standard) phone line, a pair of head sets, some auxiliary wiring, and a roll of duct tape, one or two announcers and a contract with a streaming agent (private message me and I will pass on that info without violating any rules) and you are in business at about $20 per broadcast.

 

Not too tough to carry the Red and White Colonels live on the web - just takes some initiative.

Bishop Brossart does a nice job with their website and broadcasts as well. But they are not so biased. :thumb:

You're not thinking clearly, CCH. If you watched the game, you noticed that Dixie got the ball to Lawson on the wing. Schult gave his best effort to guard him but simply does not have the footspeed and lateral quickness to guard a top-notch wing player like Lawson. Lawson got off to a very quick start which helped Dixie jump to a big lead. If he didn't sub for him, Lawson was on his way to a 40 pt game. Add in that there has not been a lot of scoring in the post and that CCH is a guard-dominated offense and it made perfect sense to me.

 

Holmes could very well present the exact same problem. Henderson is a forward and he's only about 6 feet tall and very quick. Rice is very quick. They present mismatch problems to traditional power forwards and centers.

Surely Schult would not have shut him down but he has guarded faster players (Fathergill of Pulaski Southwest) and better penetrators (Romes). And on the other hand, Danny Noll isn't as fast as Schult. I just think that he and Young should have been in there for at least 12-15 minutes.

 

And on the other side of the court, having traditional power forwards and centers in create mismatch problems for Dixie on the offensive end. Early in the 1st quarter Schult dumped it into Young and Dixie had no choice to foul him. With the ball in the post, Dixie would have fouled out 1 or 2 guys and had to go to that thin bench, IMO.

 

Regardless, both teams played a great game and get only get better from here.

Here's the difference between Dixie and Beechwood. Dixie ran an open-post offense which made penetration much more attainable. Beechwood had the big boy down low many times which cut off Romes' ability to drive.

 

Read my post again. CCH's offense is always going to come from the perimeter players. Schult's inability to guard a guard was hurting the cause. Thus, it was in Dixie's favor to have Schult in. He'll be the first to tell you that guarding a guard out on the wing is not his forte. Struggling on D and not an option on O means limited minutes.

Thanks for tipping your cap to CovCath, but maybe you can tell me (really not being flip or trying to be smart by asking) when did Dixe stop using "Lil Colonels"?

 

Gee, it is a CovCath web site! So if the CovCath announcers don't come up to your standards, why doesn't Dixie do what CovCath did, and have their own team of announcers doing their version of the game? Oh that’s right, CovCath is "Awesome" and maybe, Dixie is a bit "Jealous"

For those of us who didn't grow up in NKY (have you heard, it's a growing community ) it's sometimes hard to accept the local custom of derogatory name calling. But, no need to start another discussion like the recent "River Rats" chat.

 

You're right, some of us Dixie fans should put more effort into circumventing the beuracracy of policies that Dixie's STLP governed, Kenton County School Board owned website is constrained by. Jumping all the way into broadcasting is a stretch. Maybe we should start with simple things like getting our schedule posted. Don't bother checking out our site, there is nothing there about basketball... nada, zilch. :irked:

 

By the way, a lot of Dixie fans were also sincerely grateful that our boys were allowed to participate in a Friday night game this month. As you have heard several times on this forum lately, coeds don't have the priveledge of scheduling games whenever they want to.

 

These cumulative discrepancies make for a good rivalry. Our Title IX repressed, no website, no broadcast, scholarship (oops, I mean enrollment territory) impaired, "Lil Peon" public schoolers who have no big men to pose an inside threat are really looking forward to playing you again. Who knows, maybe we'll see you in March

You are so way off base, it is hard for me to type this. When I was young a lot of my friends including Steven Dale Tanner (if you don't know who he was, look in your library at Dixie, or ask Mrs Judy CLement) went to Dixie including some of my family way back in the 30's when Dixie opened (and it isn't my fault you don't know the history of your school) DIXIE WAS THE LIL COLONELS that indeed was their nickman not the "Red Colnels" not just the "Colonels" but the "Lil Colnels" and yes it is a growing community as we who have lived in it all of our lives understand. But all I asked was a very simple and honest question as to when they stopped using LiL Colonels as the nickname that I grew up knowing Dixie used.

 

Just wondering why couldn't your Booster Club have a web site? You do if I remember correctly have one don't you? What would stop them from stepping up to the plate or for that matter the parents of your students doing it for the school? From what I know of the public schools they are always looking for parent involement.

 

And oh BTW as a person living in Boone County and having a Boone County zip code it was funny that I received a mailing from the Kenton County School Board telling me all the wonderful things about the Kenton County Schools and what was that on the back page of this slick newspaper done at taxpayers expense, but a picture of the new Dixie sports complex. Now would you like to tell me how I received this, as well as all my neighbors being as we live in Boone County????

 

And finaly Dixe didn't have to sign a contract to play CovCath on a Friday night. Just say no next time as playing CovCath isn't required, but funny you haven't said a thing about Holmes and Beechwood also playing on a Friday night and they both have girls in their schools unlike CovCath as your student so crudely cheered Friday night. And how couldn't you be in the Region come March? Lets see, Ludlow, Lloyd, and Heritage sounds like a real tough 34th matchup for Dixie, think you will have to break a sweat winning it all?

Please help us "Lil" folks understand the true meaning of the term. My Grandpa used to use the term "boy" a lot. We had a dickens of a time convincing him that such derogatory terms can be offensive to some people, and as such, should be eliminated in our politically correct society

You know I didn't hear Danny say big colonels or little colonles and really don't care, as I was at the game, and haven't listened to the broadcast. Again all I asked was when did Dixie stop using it as their very own nickname?

 

Now please read this very slowly.....In what year did Dixie stop putting the nickname that they as a school called themselves ("Lil Colonels") on their football, basketball, and baseball uniforms. Do you understand me? Instead of having Colonels written across the uniforms or just Dixie across the players chest your school used to have the words "Lil Colonels" worn across their chests...... Now again all I asked was, in what year did Dixie stop calling themselves the "Lil Colonels". Was it in the 80's, or 90's or has it been only in the last year or so? BTW did you also know that at one time you had a girls dance team called the "Coloneletts". Boy I bet the girls on your sports teams would love to be called that instead of the Lady Colonels......

 

And I really wish you would ask or look up who Steve Tanner was! He was really a great student at Dixie and so much more. You really will thank me later when you find out about him......

Thanks for the vote of confidence. In fact, I have the wherewithal and drive to pull it off. I wonder, though, about the time.

 

Seems to me that, as a Booster type activity, I am obligated to comply with the rules of Title IX (seriously). How many girls games will I have to broadcast in order to ensure a fair balance? I realize that professional broadcasting firms are not subject to these laws, but organizations, supporters, boosters, et al who are directly affiliated with a specific coed school must comply by contributing equal dollars and benefit to both sides.

 

I guess if I'm going to get this done prior to our Regional rematch with the Big Colonels, I'd better be prepared to do our girls game with NDA on the 24th (OldGuy wants to listen to the humiliating whoopin' we're going to take.)

 

Hmmm, I guess the time issue really does come into play. I'm motivated to do the boys games, but I struggle with investing the same energy for the less entertaining girls games.

 

Please, some of you critics who say this should be so easy, help me figure out how to circumvent this caveat. I don't think I'll be able to say that the guys on Bluegrasspreps told me it was okay to ignore the girls.
