I was pretty good, on the all state roster blah blah... I had division 1offers and played small college ball. Why? Because I liked the coaches and they were genuine.

Did I say I opted to pay for school? No, you assumed. D1 is not the only level to get a full ride.

Really, then you must not hear much, a number of kids go to schools that may be considered smaller because they like the environment, like the staff, like the tradition of winning, and most importantly they want the opportunity to play. Some kids understand that they are not going to the NFL, they have a passion for the game and want to continue their playing career, the emphasis on the word playing.

I agree with some of what you say also. There are many great football players that don't get D1 scholarship offers for many reasons, such as D1 recruiters don't know about them. It does happen, a lot more than people realize.

 

I've said it many times before on here and got torched for saying so, but believe it or not there are better players than some who get D1 offers but don't get seen because of many various reasons. There are others who get D1 offers that aren't even the best players at their positions maybe even on their own team much say in the same area or district...it happens all the time.

 

We only need to look to one of the most over-hyped players in the area in recent memory...Zeke Pike.

 

Not a good analogy. I don't think anyone could question Pike's talent on the football field as a matter of fact, Pike's football talent was good enough for D-1 offers at multiple positions. Zeke Pike lacks character not football talent.

While the top 26 is the subject matter of the thread it was not the subject matter of the post I responded too. You obviously have selective reading. In my very post in which you responded to, I mentioned Pikes lack of character. You did nothing more than echo what I had already said.

Sorry, but I disagree. Yes he got D1 offers, but his QB play was not deserving of D1 QB play. If you watched him play especially his last year you would know that and to only prove the point he is not playing QB at the D1 level now is he? He has the build of a D1 QB, but not the head. Zeke is a perfect example of being overhyped. Just look at how he performed in his last few games as a senior last year, I think he had something like 5 int's in just the last 2 games if not more.

Anyone who thinks Pike is a D1 QB needs to take two steps away from the glue sticks. The fumes are getting to you. I don't want to bash the kid anymore than I have already but the apologists for him are over the top.

Your high school play does not always garner you a DI look. Zeke played for Dixie Heights, put him on a team like Trinity and he looks a lot better than what was shown his senior year. I'm speaking athletically only! The kid went on national TV, competed and proved that he is athletically a DI "type" of QB. People sit in their living rooms and judge his abilities, which is a joke. High school football is great, but you don't need to have a standout year to be seen by DI schools. I wonder if the same would be said if he played for HHS. IMO, athletically top 26 when he left Dixie, mentally bottom 26. But he still has time to turn himself around.
