Uk4Life Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Has anyone else hear anyone say that there will be a really small crowd for the jackson city vs lee game. I was thinking about going until i heard that someone said the firemarshall was going to turn away everyone past capacity. I think it only seats about 250. I think either was these school could potentially bring twice this ###. Someone said they are selling presale tickets so this game wont be seen live by many people. I think this is a problem with the all "A". breathitt could hold thousands but jc was drawn so fans will have to suffer. IMO. Anyone else heard this?? i dont know if its worth the risk to go now or not??

They are very excited about their team in Beattyville right now, and when Bobcat fans get their blood up, they'll follow their team anywhere. I don't think the gym can hold a third of the people who will show up......and the equally excited Jackson City fans will probably be there by 4 PM to secure a seat  Basketball excitement at it's best :thumb:
mountainwarrior Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Yea but it will be bad when they have to start turning people away.
Sports Maniac Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I dont see why they have tourney games at gyms that will only seat 300 people or that have hardly any parking space.
Uk4Life Posted January 20, 2006 Author Posted January 20, 2006 It is exciting but its bad for fans to get turned away. I didnt even go to the regional tourny in hazard b/c people couldnt get it & it wasnt worth the risk.
mountainwarrior Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Me either, but it happens that way. I mean why would you hold the 14th region tourney at Hazard. The gym is falling down and there is absolutely zero parking.
Flash Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Yea but it will be bad when they have to start turning people away. I suggestedd in another thread that Breathitt's Gym looks to be empty that night and why doesn't JC use it and make some $ and let a lot more people see the game.
mountainwarrior Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I guess the familairity with their own gym plays a big part in it.

Everytime I used to hike up or down that hill or have to use those restrooms and listen to all that crap about it's rich tradition I'd just shake my head and think, "you know, no one really cares about that stuff except a few over the hill folks who keep hanging on.

country boy 10 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 I guess the familairity with their own gym plays a big part in it. Lot of people buy into that but if you watch Hoosiers. 10 ft goals and same dimensions. Lee College Gym could make a differnce but This could backfire on Jackson. Sounds like this game could make some big bucks.
Uk4Life Posted January 20, 2006 Author Posted January 20, 2006 I'm sure this would be a good draw but probably better for jackson city for a smaller crowd & I'm sure the majority of fans will be from jackson. I just dont think a game of this magnitude should have such a small fan limit?? Usually teams want as many people to come as possible but playing in a "PACKED HOUSE of 300" doesnt sound that appealing!!! Getting a ticket will be like playing the lottery or politics (who you know??)!!
thegeneral Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 A question from someone who hasn't been to Jackson in a long time: When my school played game at Jackson City 20+ years ago, there were girls games in the 300-seat crackerbox, but the boys played in what was then the Lees College gym. Does that gym still exist, and what is it used for? And if it's still open, why doesn't the high school use it?

The cracker jack box gym is now classrooms at JCS. Their new gym is laid out like Buckhorn's and seats about 500.

I dont think Lee's has a team anymore so i dont know what this gym is used for?? I think this will be used for a home court advantage but the fans are the ones that will lose out, it appears.
