I get the impression BE is not playing very well the last week or two.

 

they have the KOB next week with some really good teams involved.

 

Anyone have any thoughts on this game?

I feel it's more them playing down to their opponent's level. They'll be ready next week.

Play down to their opponents level? Maybe Oldhams defense had something to do with that ... Bullitt East had trouble with the changing defenses of the Colonels. This was a 3 point game with 1:03 to go ... Willis and Troutman both had solid games. Coach Holland can frustrate the other team with his defense. Example 8th region championship last year, held Collins to 40. Bullitt East is a very good team but Oldham will be a force come tourney time.

That Troutman seems to be stepping up big time.

Oldham is usually far from a slouch program.

They did make it to Saturday morning last year -- further than a certain former region rival of theirs -- and the main members of that cast are back. That's gotta count for something.

I saw a highlight where BE had the ball. Willis was on the wing. Ball was stolen and taken to the rim for a shot. Willis got back. Blocked the shot. Ran the floor and got the outlet pass and threw down a dunk. Kid moves well for his height. All he needs is work in the weight room.

He'll need more than just the weight room to play at UK. He will be a four year player so he will have time to develop the other skills needed. He has a good chance to help the Cats before he leaves.

A red-shirt would be a perfect fit for him IMO.

I really didn't mean that as an insult to Oldham County, just expect more out of East.

It's hard to go on the road and win convincingly against a quality opponent. Bullitt East looked good and they will be fine, and so will the OC Colonels. Oldham Co has played Bullitt East for the last three years and this team is the clearly the best BE team we've seen. Oldham Co will get better as this season goes on, they have some players still learning new roles.
