Which AD did made a better hire? UK or UT?

My vote goes for the Cats on this one. Timing for their hire was better.

We won't know.

However, for winning over the fans it's UK hands down.

As a UK football fan, I would have been fine with Stoops or Jones.

I agree, I think both are good coaches but UK won the PR battle in making it look like they were agressive and got the coach that they wanted as opposed to who's left. I think Jones has the tougher job due to the higher expectations but I think both will have success.

Tennessee. Simply because of the fact that he went after the big guns. Made the offers.

Heard a lot of speculation out of the UK camp, but I think it was just rumors.

Arkansas and Tennessee both went for home runs. In my opinion, Arkansas got one. Tennessee is TBD.

I would say that is why Tennessee lost. They were turned down by everyone and "settled" for Jones, that is why the UT fans are reacting how they are. I would rather have Stoops than Jones but think both will do fine.

I still like that they went for the fences. LOVE that they at least went for the big hire.

Kentucky hasn't. That's my only gripe with the Stoops hire. It's not Stoops himself, but Mitch for clearly saying without saying it, "Football is 2nd."

That makes no sense whatsoever.

I bet most people thought Stoops was out of UK's league. There is a difference between swinging for the fences and wasting time. Kentucky should go after guys like Gruden??? C'MON MAN!!

This is all subjective....I've seen it mentioned other places that UK called some "homerun" guys who immediately said "thanks, but no thanks".

Gruden. Heck no.

Arkansas for example. Great hire.

If you think guys like Bielema (sp?), Steve Sarkisian at Washington, Gundy at Oklahoma State, heck even Paul Johnson @ GT are out of reach, etc, then that's part of the problem.

Those, are what I consider home run hires. Guys who are current head coaches and have won.

Why not? What would it have hurt to talk to either of those guys and say, "Here is $3.5-$4 mill. Are you interested?"

I've seen it mentioned, also. On message boards like this.

If ESPN, footballscoop.com, etc. are talking about and feel it to be newsworthy, then you can almost take it to the bank (at least more credible than anything else).

 You think ESPN is a good news source?

That makes no sense whatsoever.

Really?

The football program brings in twice as much revenue as the basketball program, yet they pay their head football coaches 1/2 as much as Cal. Does that makes sense?

Again, some of you are missing my point. It's not Stoops that I have the issue with, it's the admin. Had we at least known for a fact, that UK had offered guys like I mentioned in my previous posts and they said "No", but were able to snag Stoops, then I'm 100% ok with it.

You got anybody else?
