DITTO!!!

Villa senior Andy Piccirillo led the team with 22 points, which included six 3s. Villa junior Troy Phelps had 11 points and 11 rebounds for his 3rd consecutive double-double. Villa senior Randy Lund had 11 points and 5 rebounds. This was Villa's 4th game of the season and I believe it was Dayton's first. The Blue Lightning are back in action this Friday at home facing Calvary Christian, then travel to Ludlow on Monday December 10th. That should be a very good game.

With the 8th graders' 13 it sounds like a balanced scoring night.

I wish that Covington Latin had Dayton on their schedule this year if that's the only point production the Devils could muster against Villa. Latin has Bellevue and Heritage scheduled twice on their 13 game schedule. Dayton has 21 games scheduled. I'd dig it if they could work out a match up between the two before season's end. Why? Just because...

Is Villa Madonna a contender for the 9th Region's All "A" spot?

No sarcasm intended as I do not know you well enough to know if you are joking, but sure, Villa is a contender just as all "All A Teams" are, however with teams like NewCath, Newport, Holy Cross, Lloyd, & St. Henry in the mix... well... I guess you might now see what I'm saying...

I assumed they weren't the class of the region, but I was asking more along the lines of could they make the semifinals? I know the 9th Region requires a couple wins to get to the final four.

By the way, of the four you listed, how would you rank their chances in the tournament?

Did Dayton have any players out for this game or is Villa that much better? I am shocked by the score!

Dayton only returns one player with Varsity experience and it was very limited last year. They lost like 8 Sr's who were actually pretty solid. The program right now is down and its just lack of experience IMO. Dilts does a good job down there but its all about what you have to work with.

I'd say that they are the top 5 of the 'All A' in the order that I originally listed them.

1. NewCath

2. Newport

3. Holy Cross

Then you have...

4. Lloyd

5. St. Henry

after that perhaps

6. Beechwood

7. Ludlow

8. Villa Madonna

Then...

9. Bellevue

10. Dayton

11. Heritage Academy

I think that Covington Latin has been absent from this tournament since the 1999/2000 season as well as district tournaments, however they did play in last year's 35th District Tourney against Beechwood and it was their first district tourney appearance since the 1999/2000 season. Not sure if they have any intentions of being in either tourney this year.

Not that anyone could possibly care, but my wish just came true with Latin scratching their game with Beth Haven and scheduling a game with Dayton for this Friday night! Yippeeeeee!
