Cincinnati Pushing Hard For ACC

Featured Replies

It's the school in general U of L is 168 Cincy is 135 and UCONN is 65 the lowest current in tHE ACC Is nc state at 68. This is the reason that they both have to do a lot to get there.

The US News and World Report numbers are less than meaningless...

Well it looks like Florida State, Clemson, NC State and the rest need to tell Duke, Wake and UNC to get their heads out of their butts and vote UofL in. Apparently we were one vote shy of acceptance.

Take UL and you could very well be looking at UNC and UVa bolting to the B1G. The ACC is walking a very fine line in terms of keeping both sides happy right now...

All of which means little to nothing in the ACC decision. It does make UL fans feel good about themselves, so you do have that going for you. What you have going against you is a very poor academic reputation that is keeping UL one vote short of getting the ACC invite at the moment...

I bet it's Duke....the #8 academic school in the nation.

#139 - UC to #160 - UL, is hardly worth bragging about.......UConn holds that trump card.

Word is that Duke, UVa, UNC and Wake that voted against UL. I don't think BC is thrilled with it, but they want no part of being tied to UConn. Also heard GTech was a late switch to a vote for UL at the last minute. If they can get one of those four schools to flip, this part of the process could be over pretty quickly. If it starts to drag out it begins looking bad for UL...

That's why they need to take all 3.....with UL and UC being on contingency plan to bring up academics. (Personally, I feel that if they both were to get in the ACC, you'd see their academic rankings magically rise....not in-different from recruiting rankings and big name schools).

Carolina and Duke are the only hope. Wake doesn't care....and Virginia could care less about the athletics.

Again the US News and World Report rankings are not involved. No doubt UConn holds the academic trump card, but adding them is almost a guarantee that FSU and Clemson are gone and the ACC brand in football is worthless. Adding UL pushes UNC and Virginia closer to the B1G door. Things are very delicate at the ACC offices right now...

That's why they need to go all 3...or convince Carolina to give in.....Virginia can go...they know they have to keep football happy first.

Why would UNC want out if UofL joins?

UNC calls themselves a "public Ivy League" school. Joining the B1G puts them in the best academic power conference and delivers a ton more money from the B1G Netowrk deal. Add UL and the academic prestige the schools against them feel the ACC presents is once again tarnished. You have to remember the voting is done by school presidents. It isn't as cut and dry as a sports fan wants it to be...

Agreed. Just talking through how this is playing out so far...

I really wish we knew the votes...my gut says that Duke/Wake/Virginia are voting to keep Louisville out.....While academics is a great public reason (maybe).....I lend myself to think it's football, as they view it a challenge for a conference win.....insert UC instead of UL as well.

Basketball wise, it could be a monster.
