Less than one a game. He has very good stats for the year over all and TD-INTs is a very good stat for him.

 

LexCath has averaged more than one interception per game. They will try to go to the 3rd or 4th receiver if the primary or secondary is covered and still get the ball down field. While a good college QB or pro can check down to their 4th receiver its much harder in HS and takes longer. The defenses are so much faster now that receivers are usually well covered or DBs are lurking and waiting for the off-foot throw on the scramble.

 

So I would be more worried about LexCath trying to force plays when it comes to turnovers.

Whittle has had a excellent year. In no way is his play a weak link. TD-INT ratio is outstanding. And Boyle does a great job of getting the defense into a 'run rhythm ' before hitting the TE over the middle or going down field on a long route.

 

Both teams will likely play conservative and tell the QBs to not try to force passes.

I'm just going by what the link I posted provided. It says he had 19 tds and 3 ints in the 9 regular season games he played in. That's not math. That's reading.

Not certain but those INT's you are maybe looking at belong to the backup QB who played some significant minutes early in the season. :thumb:

Defense and special teams will be the difference in this game. A blocked punt, a missed field goal, kickoff return will be huge. If Boyle can stop the run like they did against Russell County and force Lex Cath to go to the pass and make the QB try to win the game, I really like our chances. If Lex Cath can run the ball effectively throughout the game, it will take the pressure off the QB and help the Lex Cath offense. Boyle needs a great game from William Harris. Yes, this is the punter/kicker. He needs to be able to make some pressure kicks in the game and place some kickoffs in the end zone. I really like the way that Boyle has stepped up their game since the loss to Lex Cath in the regular season and look for them to avenge their last loss and move on to try and avenge their first loss.

I think the tone of the question was wondering if Boyle was careless with the passing game. But I maybe wrong with that interpretation. In any measure that is not the case at all. Boyle and Whittle have taken good care of the ball and there were no interceptions the first game by LexCath. The stats may be off - and statisticians do not always see when QBs are swapped out. But in any case, Whittle has taken care of the ball. Boyle may be a run focused team but when they pass they usually get good results. LexCath will have to watch for that or the big plays may go to Boyle tonight.
