This game is the perfect example for why Notre Dame could play with Bama. Notre Dame and LSU are built the same way this year. Great defense, solid running game but overall very weak offenses. Yet we seen that style can give you a chance to beat Bama. Which the announcers have even talked about the teams who have beaten Bama over the last 4 years are teams who don't pass much and just play great defense and can run the ball. Notre Dame had a let down today, but still found away to win. Very similar to how LSU does things every week. This game showed that a team with a great defense can play with Bama. Oregon on the other hand is a different story for Notre Dame. Oregon is going to score not matter who they play. That would be a tough matchup for Notre Dame.

 

 

This has been the theory on Alabama and the SEC for several years now, that these other high powered offense's could give them a game. That's worked out well for the SEC teams.

Watching this game just reiterated how tough the SEC is, and Alabama in particular... This game was so much different than the ND/Pitt game. No offense to ND but the best thing they could hope for is to go unbeaten but miss the title game, that way they get to beat their drum and talk about what could've been...

 

The Tide and LSU are both great teams and I believe that the Irish is very capable of playing with either, especially from a defensive perspective. Notre Dame definitely had an ugly game yesterday, but still won. I'm pretty well convinced after how they handled Oklahoma last week in Norman.

Notre Dame, Oregon, and Kansas State are all good ball teams. The reason SEC is the best is speed on the defensive line. Go back to last year and Oregon's James could not beat LSU'S defensive ends to the edge. Anyone of the 3 teams I mentioned would not be able to beat Bama because Bama just too could and defense and Bama's offense would rack up points on Oregon or Kansaa State. Notre Dame has best defense of those teams but they cannot beat Bama.

While I agree with to an extent and understand you sentiment how many times have we heard that Oklahoma, USC or tOSU were overrated? How many times has that been said about Florida, Bama, LSU or which ever team from the SEC one of those teams faced? That's the problem with ND right now is that they've only beat teams that are not on the same level as the top SEC schools.
