As usual, the majority of the 1st round games were expected with your typical blowouts, but, in looking at all the round 1 scores, which ones made you do a double take and surprised you a little, be it good or bad? Here's mine by class:

 

 

1a - Paris 48 Dayton 6 ... I really expected this one to be a tossup with a slight edge to Dayton and looks like Paris took it right to them and won handily. That surprisd me.

 

2a - LCC 34 leslie Co 26 ... Not that the end result was unexpected, but, I expected a much larger cushion from LCC.

 

3a - Larue Co 36 Corbin 16 ... Where did this one come from? Has Larue even sniffed the Top 10 this year and then winning going away really surprised me.

 

4a - Ashland 41 Holmes 14 ... Not shocked the Tomcats won, but, really thought Holmes would give a better showing with a real shot at an upset.

 

5a - Cooper 48 Anderson Co 0 ... Fully expected a 2 score or less game here, but, Cooper came out swinging and never let up. should BG be getting a bit worried?

 

6a - Scott Co 42 Ryle 10 ... I certainly expected Scott to win, just figured Ryle would have put up a better fight, but, in fairness, there weren't alot of surpises in 6a.

Anderson County getting clobbered by Cooper 48-0. Never saw the final by that margin.

The Paris score stood out to me as well. I expected the Green Devils to go down there and win.

Did any #4s win?

^ Male beat Lafayette, though I am not sure that was a surprise.

Not to sound biased, but this score even shocked me. Cooper 48 Anderson Co. 0

Anderson county averaged over 37 points the entire season and to be shut down the way they were was amazing to watch. They were only able to get a couple of drives going the entire game and whenever they threatened Cooper's D stepped up and stopped them or forced a turnover. It was fun to watch. Even when Cooper had their 2nd string in, they found a way to stop any scoring threats. That was the best played game I've ever seen Cooper play.

Madison Central winning wasn't a shock but the margin is a little surprising.
