Owen is not as good as last year and passes the ball a lot. If they decide to run the ball against Holy Cross they could win in this one. This is not a gimmie game for Holy Cross IMO.

Take your pick - Very good Holmes defense, rain, sloppy field, injuries, not running the right plays, missed assignments, lost focus, etc.

I think Holmes had some incentive. HC was beating them 41-0 last year when the power went out in the stadium and the game was stopped in the 3rd quarter. What a difference a year makes.

No, I would not call it that. There is a lot of pride on the Indians, especially with the upperclassmen who experienced winning that title last year. It is now quite clear how special the team was in 2011 and how much was lost to graduation. It was very talented and players complemented one another. This year, early injuries, QB swapping, etc. did not help. I would not put blame on the HC assistants. It is mostly the same staff as last year. They are a dedicated group of individuals who give their time to teach young men good football techniques, leadership, teamwork, and a proven "system" that should lead to wins on the field. Unfortunately, 2012 did not look like 2011.

Holmes was the team that had the confidence and the swagger this year. Last year it was the other way around.

Quite simple - HC talent just not there this year. Lose 12 seniors from last year's state championship team, where majority played both ways - very tough to replace. I thought that HC would have an even won-loss record at best and did not get it done.
