I seriously hope brossart makes a coaching change. This team is as bad as when the program started. Plus they had no business playing this far up in class. What was the coach thinking? Oh yeah, he wanted to go back to Taylor Mill and show everyone that he could be a varsity coach. Wrong decision.

 

Couldn't agree more. It's hard to believe, but this one wasn't as close as the score indicated. I know the kids work hard, but Brossart is a bad football team, that is not coached well and that is a very bad situation.

The BGH is missing in action, maybe he starting the Bass Fishing team.

Watching Scott on two occasions this year, I see nothing but potential for next season. They started a ton of juniors, and I thought their offense was decent enough, although always playing from behind. Defense is definitely an opportunity for improvement. Does anyone know why they don't field a JV team? That would no doubt help their program....is it just numbers? Lack of staff?

They field a Froshmore team, and they went 6-1 this year, with the only loss to NCC. With freshman numbers typically in the mid to low teens, it just makes no sense to have separate freshman and JV teams. There are more than a few good football that will help out at the varsity level next year.

I agree the program is struggling, no doubt about that! But you act like the coach gets to decide what class they play in. IMO this has little to with coaching and more with a program deciding they wanted to forgoe independent as opposed to district football. Getting put in 2A by KHSAA didn't help. Not a Brossart fan at all but think it has less to with coaching and more about too much too soon. Good luck getting a reputable coach taking that job while they're in 2A.

The coach does do the scheduling, and probably did figure he could compete with Scott, which was a bad decision. Honestly, being in 1A wouldn't make them any better. They lost to both 1A teams they played.

I agree, they are not new,they stared Football about 7 years ago a 6th grader would now be a Sen.

I'm not pretending he's a great coach by any means. Name the coach and nothing changes, go to 1A and nothing changes. I get it. A coaching change just means the kids learn a new system and set back a couple more years. As far as 1A they will still have a better chance at competing with the Dayton and Ludlows of the world.

Sorry, but the coach means a ton. Just ask the folks in Taylor Mill how much the coach means. Scott wouldn't be where they are at now without Campbell/Woolley. A private school like Brossart will never attract football players without a strong Coach.

I realize coaching must have played a huge part in their victories against Brossart, Newport, and Grant Co. Oh and I forgot Leslie Co and Taylor. Coaching does make all the difference! Next year they can schedule a junior high team to get over 500.

And that is what I do not get about the compaints about the class. It is not like somebody cheated and put them in 2A. Yes thye may be the smallest two A school but that still placed them in that category.

I'm not arguing they should be in a different class, i just know they are close so they may be in 1A next realignment. Not a Brossart fan. Think the football plan was poorly orchestrated. Coaching changes don't make up for bad administration choices.
