October 30, 201213 yr I guess the intelligence world just has to realize they are going to be scapegoats at times. I think it is a political standard. When in doubt, blame intelligence. When right, take full credit. Its how it is, at least that how I see it. I know Bush did his blaming on the intel community.
October 31, 201213 yr Did President Bush "throw them under the bus" re: bad intelligence? I thought he threw Colin Powell under the bus and used him. I lost a lot of respect for Bush when he did that mad made Colin Powell get up on stage and explain WMD in Iraq.
October 31, 201213 yr It would look like Petraeus is being set up for a fall.... "Fox News is told that the Petraeus briefing on Sept. 14 conflicted with that of the FBI and NCTC. On Capitol Hill, Petraeus characterized the attack as more consistent with a flash mob, where the militants showed up spontaneously with RPGs. Petraeus downplayed to lawmakers the skill needed to fire mortars, which also were used in the attack and to some were seen as evidence of significant pre-planning." Early briefings on Libya strike focused on Al Qaeda, before story changed | Fox News

October 31, 201213 yr So the Muslims just showed up with RPGs one by one without any coordination , wow, I would hope they don't expect anyone with sense to believe that. Spontanious protestors always have RPGs...and world class crack mortar teams... From the same article... "As Fox News previously reported, four mortars were fired -- two missed the annex, but the mortar team re-calibrated and the next two mortars were direct hits. "
October 31, 201213 yr Here is an article on questions about this incident: David Ignatius: Benghazi questions the administration must answer - The Washington Post This article makes it seem like Woods did get the go ahead to go help Stevens but it was after about a 20 minute delay. Therefore he didn't disobey orders if this is true. He was killed at the safehouse he was originally at anyway so that shouldn't be an issue. The excuses are all running out.
October 31, 201213 yr Maybe if our President had responded to this incident as fast as he did for Hurrican Sandy (for votes) we wouldnt be having this discussion. I would rather explain how a few were killed trying to rescue American in trouble than explain we didnt do anything to help a few American in trouble.

From article: "Looking back, it may indeed have been wise not to bomb targets in Libya that night. Given the uproar in the Arab world, this might have been the equivalent of pouring gasoline on a burning fire. " Emphasis added. To the emphasized: So what? Any sort of organized counter attack - especially from overhead assets would have likely blunted or halted the ongoing, 7-hour attack. If the attackers were hit with laser guided and/or smart munitions are on station and now engaging they likely would have scattered.

November 1, 201213 yr I think it's very lucky for Obama that this has come out too close to the election for a full investigation to be completed beforehand.
November 1, 201213 yr Author I think it's very lucky for Obama that this has come out too close to the election for a full investigation to be completed beforehand. If he gets re-elected what happens then? This has all the makings of a major scandal at best and complete incompetence at worst.
November 1, 201213 yr If he gets re-elected you can bet big that the House will have an investigation and hearings. The Senate will as well in the unlikely event that the Republicans win it.
November 1, 201213 yr Someone please tell me what the COVERUP is? I mean what are they trying to exactly hide that is so bad. I know it cant be the fact that they lied about the reason being the video, didnt have the security beefed up, or didnt respond for help during the 7 hours. It has to be more than that. Does anyone know?

Does anyone know? Who know but when you don't come clean everyone's imaginations run wild. The simplist explaination is that the administration didn't want a terrorist attack this close the election.
