I agree with your first two assessments but I would put too much stock in the MS title. That NKMS league is a watered down with too many rules and three of the best players from this years freshman team came from outside the that league such as the NKYFL and the BCPWFL. Nonetheless Beechwoods Freshman team is very very good and dominated the game for the most part.

I would say about 14 to 15 saw significant minutes, with about 6 that hardly came off the field. The coaches did a great job of rotating the line on D. Beechwood only dressed 24 players.

Agree, as Beechwood Develops their MS program, perhaps they could expand their horizons outside of the NKMS league. Heck maybe even start the rivalry with Franfort at the MS level, I know Frankfort would play them.

I only saw BW once and they do not have a big roster. BW folks can correct me if I'm way off but I'd say no more than 25 to 30 on the roster. Seemed like most played both ways.

I think a couple of the freshmen might see some time on special teams. Any time you can get more speed on the field it is good. Stringer and or Slusher might get worked in on the return teams and coverage teams because of their speed. I doubt you will see any freshmen getting time on defense, but maybe there is an outside shot at corner or safety in passing situations? Again, more speed helps. Same thing on offense. Maybe at receiver on certain plays. If any freshmen are to get playing time beyond special teams, I think Slusher is the best bet to get playing time from the freshman team because of the position he plays.

 

The time has come where I must disagree with you VOR. You apparently believe the lack of a passing game has to do with receivers. It does not. It's a lack of play calling and a veteran QB that can look at more than one receiver before attempting to tuck and run. There's also cases where the line has not provided solid protection to allow for any progression on receivers. I see receivers open on every pass play, but there is generally only one receiver looked at. Hopefully that will change.

Toothpick, they are just working hard to compete with your Cardinals, hopefully they can turn the tide in the future, but only time can tell.

We do not have a frosh team, to few red birds

Just watched some of the game on ihigh, first time seeing Beechwood.

You are correct, they had 25 on their roster with 5 of those players being 8th graders. BW should be proud of the fact they were one of two smaller schools to field a freshmen team, NewCath being the other.

Not to get off on a tangent, but what is going on with freshmen football in NKY? Used to be everyone had a freshmen team, now it seems as though it is only 4A-6A programs that have enough bodies.

I've said it before and I still believe it. Due to more info coming about head injuries football will continue to stay at or below the level it's at now as far as participants.
