It is unfortunate because many people, families depend on the tobacco industry as a source of income.

They might need to adjust to something that doesn't kill people for their income, especially since the population is finally wising up to that fact. There have been many generations of people in this country and around the world that have had to adjust out of their families previous methods of income, to one that is more modern and competitive.

That is grounds for a law suit.

I would agree with this statement. But like I said it was a CHOICE.

I thought so. She isn't even showing that much.

Right, but now the choice is going the opposite direction, which is a good thing.

What are you talking about? I said IT was a Choice that they use tobacco lots of warnings on the labels of tobacco products, but they CHOOSE to do it anyway. Not so much people are quit using that's not my point.

Ok, then who is killing tobacco. Goes back to my "I'm completely lost" post.

Organizations that put together the campaign to end tobacco. IT's my fault for thinking people would automatically get what I'm talking about, not to offend anyone here, I'm not saying that.

I sound like a doomsayer but coal is another industry that may not have a long life.

This will only happen if people follow the phony science of global warming, as I alluded to in the thread I started about no change in world temps over the last 16 years. So much for beating a dead horse.

As far as smokers go, they made the decision, live, or as the case may be, die with it. If smoking is politically incorrect, so should alcohol, as thousands are killed by drunk drivers each year.

.

I don't think it will be because of global warming. It will be because of the harm the coal companies are doing to the local communities' land and water.

What campaigns? The ones that educate people of the health problems that tobacco causes?

It is not and if she believes that was the reason she really should consult an attorney.

For along time I thought what was the point? We had the tobacco industry in place here for a long time. Tobacco help build many of the small towns and cities, was a only source of income for families, then industry came in swear it was gonna compete in the job market to hiring and boost the local economy.

Now tobacco is regulated by the goverment to only allow a few farmers raise it, or how much they could raise. Factories are closing down shipping jobs overseas. Most of it economy other is just plain stupidity.

And other is just GREED.:taz::taz::taz:

What else would you expect from Protectionists?

No the ones that sued the tobacco industry. The educational part yes hopefully has taught people, but then again if the warnings was on the package was there and ignored, then the educational point is just extra.
