Cov Holy Cross Football: Banner Day

Featured Replies

The NFL and the Bengals gave Covington Holy Cross $50k today for field renovation. In listening to the news, it sounds like a local booster stepped up at the end of the ceremony and said he would match the $50k. I believe the city and state are also providing financial support as well.

Look for HC to use it for bleachers, lights, and a sound system.

How about they set aside $1000 for signage and maps to the field. Oh and maybe $100 for motion sickness medicine :creepy: from all the turns.

It was part of a deal to develop some areas near the Licking River for recreational use.

So, the facilities are not owned by Holy Cross?

So, the facilities are not owned by Holy Cross?

In a nutshell:

Since the Licking River flooded in March 1997, Rosedale Park in Covington's Latonia neighborhood has been largely unused.

City officials hope to change that by year's end with the help of a $75,000 grant awarded last week. The $400,000 project calls for transforming 22 acres of passive green space into a sports complex for Holy Cross High School and the community.

The project includes a new football field for freshmen and reserve games and varsity practices, a running/walking track, a varsity soccer field, a tot lot, more parking, a concession stand and restrooms.

Besides the grant, city and Holy Cross funds and donations of labor and materials from both groups will help build the sports complex.

After the flood of '97, school officials tried to purchase or lease the park, but ran into legal and funding obstacles. To resolve those, the school formed a partnership with the city

I'm sure all are welcome but I'm also pretty sure no OH boys were on the team this past year.

Not sure if you are right about that or not. What about the kid from Elder that transfered over? Sleeping over on someones couch doesn't make him a Ky resident.

Come on, BZ. The kid and his ENTIRE family live about 5 minutes from me. He's a legit KY resident.

So they still won't have a home for varsity games???

 Yea, o.k. whatever you say. They are all legit aren't they?

No school-specific recruiting comments or allegations of KHSAA rules violations by any school, coach, or player are allowed. No talking about where any player lives, has lived, or where they are from in a recruiting context. This is not the place to report KHSAA violations. Feel free to contact http://www.khsaa.org to report such violations, but do not discuss violations here.
