Whitley County 14 Somerset 7

Featured Replies

Ugly Game, neither team could really move the ball with any consistency. Stupid penalties on both sides just killed them both.

Congrats Whitley!

Jumpers get ready, Danville is waiting next week.

Missed it. I was going to try and watch this game on line.

You could have tried to watch it. It got much worse than this late in the fourth quarter.

There is no proof from this picture that Whitley County even made the trip!

Three unsportsmanlike conduct penalties (one which allowed Whitley to convert a 1st and 28 on their scoring drive), three interceptions including a pick six, and a lost fumble all in the second half for Somerset. The Jumpers led both Breathitt and Whitley 7-0 at the half but were outscored 38-6 combined in the second half of the two games. I hope they have learner that you have to play two halves or it could get ugly next week.

Somerset struggled with the pitch in the second half, WC kept beating them to the edge when it mattered. I know 3 or 4 starting DB/LB's were out of the game at that point but if Somerset can't stop outside run game Danville has to be licking their lips getting ready. That said D once again played more than well enough for Somerset to win this game. Somerset ran fairly well in this game but struggled in all aspects of the passing game; bad throwing it, bad catching it, QB and WR's not on the same page as several throws went to open field or to the Colonels with no Jumpers around (Don't know if it was bad throw or wrong route ran by WR). Can't use the weather as an excuse because they have had the same issues in other games as well.

This possibly the best D Somerset has ever had (when healthy) but O to this point in the season hasn't got it done.

Congrats to the Colonels on a good hard hitting and hard fought win.

Cong: to Whitley Co. Good win. Somerset needs some super healing this week to get ready for Danville.
