After pondering the loss to Highlands vs CCH last week, I realized something. St. Henry beat CCH last year in a big upset and then rivaled Highlands beat the Colonels this year. Besides those two losses the Cololes haven't lost in regular season play vs. 9th Region teams. They are 35-3 in the past 3 years vs. 9th Region teams with the districts and regionals added. That loss was to Conner last year in the Semis. Thats incredible.

CCH always has a target on their back, but the target has seemingly grown bigger in the past few seasons.

 

In '03-'04, they were clearly the best team in the region. They had a few close calls, but for the most part won fairly handily. Only 2 games were decided by single digits (NCC in regular season, Conner in regional tourney...) According to the KHSAA Website, they won by an average of nearly 22 points per game in the regular season, and almost 14 in the postseason for a combined average of 19.25 (special thanks to MS Excel ).

 

Their only two losses in the '04-'05 season were to St. Henry (at home) & @ Conner in the regional tournament, I believe.

I've followed the 9th for awhile. The last 3years have been an exception. Holmes has always beat CCH atleast once a year even in down years as long as I cam remeber. I have a feeling this year brings CCH back to reality.

Your memory does not track very far back then.

I find it hard to say they are dominators without consecutive regional titles or back to back trips to Rupp, they have dominated season regional play and their district, but to say they are dominating the region is a little heavy. They do have a great team this year and with Tierney getting back on track this may be their year to cap a great run from the past few years

:thumb: And that is pretty much all that matters isn't it. They may have dominated the regular season but the bottom line is regional titles and going to the State Tournament of which CCH, as bigstud has stated, has only been 1 time in the last 15 years.

Lets be honest CCH hasn't dominated around here since the late 60's teams they had with Noll, Voskuhl, VonLehman, Derkson, Topmiller, Fritz and all the other talented players that Mote Hil had on those teams.

Honestly I don't believe you can say any one team has dominated the 9th since that time IMO.

Shows how difficult it is to win a Region that has several teams in contention each year. All it takes is for one team to be better on a given night.
