The Redskins had over a minute and they didnt do it. Like I said, I don't care what they do. I'm happy no one got hurt. But I can see why a head coach would be mad.

I agree with you. You said you had no problem with it. I don't either. I don't see why a coach would have a problem, they're supposed to try to win and by catching the other team by surprise someone might be able to pull it off someday. If Eli would have lost the ball (we've talked about his leading the league the past 3 years) and TB ran it back, everyone would be calling it a genius move. I don't see any reason to whine about it. Just be prepared in the future and have the o-line block hard.

To be clear, I would also have no problem if the next team to play TB sends a wr deep and connects for a TD. It's part of the risk/reward you take.

If I'm playing on defense in the NFL in this day and age and I'm going to come hard at a QB who is just running out the clock, I'm telling the guy across the line from me that I'm coming hard (and he can do what he needs to do). That way I am not violating an evolved, unwritten rule of the game and no one has a gripe. It's a level playing field, as they say.

I don't think they told them, but in your scenario I don't see an issue. The problem most have with it (Coughlin included most likely) is that the Giants were not expecting it and took a few helmets to their o-linemens knees. It is not something I've EVER seen a team do. One team is giving up immediately to prevent running up the score/protect the ball/prevent injury. Most teams back off. Including the several teams that did it yesterday.

I haven't read any direct quotes, but I've read that even some Buccaneers players disagreed with it. I don't think we will see it much more.
