September 7, 201214 yr No sarcasm please, well maybe a little would be ok. Please define "fair share" and tell me who get to determine how much is each person's "fair share"?
September 7, 201214 yr I assume you're talking taxes. I can really only remember one person, I think it was Ace, who ever really answered that question.
September 7, 201214 yr Author I assume you're talking taxes. I can really only remember one person, I think it was Ace, who ever really answered that question. I'm assuming taxes but last night and all week we have heard about everyone doing their fair share. Does it apply to more than taxes?
September 7, 201214 yr Author To me this a fundamental question. I've heard fair share, fair share, and more fair share. So I want to know what is my fair share and who gets to determine it. If it's the cornerstone for everything you are proposing then it should be easy to answer. Is it my share of the taxes? My share of the work? You know what I want? I want my fair share of GM. Record profits and pay little or no federal taxes and it was paid for with our tax dollars. I want my fair share of GM and Amtrak. And if Social Security isn't a ponzi scheme, I want my fair share of it also.
September 8, 201214 yr Author Man I hope you get an answer to this question. Don't hold your breathe. There isn't an answer but yet it's the cornerstone of the entire Obama movement. The word fair is used over and over.
September 8, 201214 yr Every time I hear it my mind applies it in the opposite direction... If everyone was doing their fair share, there would be little need for government assistance entitlement programs in this country.
September 8, 201214 yr Author I'll give you another reason nobody wants to discuss this. Because they don't have the balls to call fair share what it really is, wealth redistribution. There is no such thing as a fair share. Yet, it's the catch phrase for this administration.
September 8, 201214 yr Chirp Chirp. About what I expected. Yeah, chirp, chirp. To me, doing our "fair share" means doing what we each can do as an individual to not only care for ourselves, but to care for those that are in less fortunate circumstances than ours. Similar to what another poster said in another thread, if we truly were all doing our part (financial and civic), then there would be little need for welfare, because instead of harping about those that abuse the situation, we'd be working to help those that need it.
September 8, 201214 yr Author Yeah, chirp, chirp. OK, so I know what would happen if we all did our fair share but what I want to know is, what is my/your fair share, who get to determine my/your fair share and my/your fair share of what? Is it my/your money, time, property, intellect? Once again almost every Obama speech includes some reference to everyone doing their fair share, yet I've never heard it defined. If it's the center piece to everything he believes and he has as many supporters as he seems to have, should someone be able to tell me exactly what it is?
September 8, 201214 yr Author Do you mean a definition beyond the one I already gave in my post? So to you fair share is helping those less fortunate and this would eliminate the need for welfare. So I take it that in that case we would determine for ourselves what our fair share is. Fair enough, I appreciate you answering.
