Seems like this thing takes forever to charge. Do you all have any apps on yours for saving the power or is the Iphone supposed to be pretty self sufficient without it? I'm new to this game so I don't know what apps I need to be getting to make this a pleasant experience.

 

Are you charging from a computer or your plugged in charger the phone came with? It takes longer from a computer. Are you posting for your phone? If not forum runner is the app to get on bgp search bluegrasspreps. Yahoo fantasy had apps as well as espn, I love my radar app for weather. Netflix app, so many useful things out there bro.

Went back with Sprint today and got the iPhone 5. Got home and it was dropping calls and only one bar even outside the house, they are sending me an Airave which runs on WiFi, hope it solves the problem.

 

I am now at a location that doesn't have WiFi downloading apps for the past 2 hours that didn't transfer and its at 62%, I guess that is normal for DLs?

 

Also, its seems harder to type vs the 3, anyway to make the keys bigger?

Not sure why it would be harder to type. The screen is bigger but the keyboard is exactly the same.

 

As for your download speed, what kind of connection did you have? If you had 4G or LTE apps should download very quickly but both 4g and LTE drain your battery pretty quickly.

 

I've had much better luck with my battery today.

 

5 hours 10 minutes of usage and 17 hours 49 minutes of standby and I have 32% remaining.

 

Not sure what was killing it yesterday.

If you were downloading 25 apps at once I'd say that would drain the battery.

 

If you are not in an area where you can get LTE then you are better off turning that off. If you have LTE on your phone is apparently always looking for LTE thus it's draining your battery. Same for wifi. If you aren't around wifi turn it off.

Unofrtunately Sprint doesn't have 4G. I've got Sprint as well it's kind of catch 22 with them, they're the only company with unlimited data between ATT, Verizon and Sprint however they pretty much only have 3G. Sprint has 4G in about 6 or 7 cities in all of the US, they're WELLLLLL behind in 4G coverage but saying it should grow a lot over the next couple years.

Thanks for the feedback! Hmmm, well I should get that device by Wednesday and we shall see what happens, if not they said I have 14 days, plus if my only phone can't work in the house, it's not very good for me at all. Plus I didn't know they don't have 4G.

 

For others with Verizon, I really do not want to go with ATT, but how is Verizon and their plans? I don't do too much data, but how much more per month are they Vs Sprint? I'll have to find someone to come over and have a beer and some food who have Verizon and see if they can get a good signal here before I think about switching. Last night I have only 1 and 2 bars in Clifton just across the street from UC, so it "should" have been a very stong signal area.

What are the monthly fees for Verizon and AT&T? I don't use too much data per month. With T Mobile I paid about $115 per month. I am just preparing in case the Airave device doesn't work and I need to switch. Thanks!

Also, my phone had a full charge and just after 1 two minute call, 1 hr and 20 mins standby, and just logging on her for 2 mins, it's down to 97%. All other apps are closed. Is that normal? Seems like its draining too much. Thanks!

Keep using it like normal and see how long it lasts. Sometimes, for some reason or another my phone's battery will run down super fast sometimes. And then other times it seems to work fine.

 

The battery drains much slower if you are on WIFI. If you are on 3G, 4G or LTE it will drain pretty fast. Also make sure you don't have location services turned on for a lot of things. I use it for Maps, Find my phone and weather and that is pretty much it. I also make sure LTE is turned off when I'm not in an area where it is available. Same for wifi.
