August 3, 201214 yr I will safely assume you voted for Sen McCain in 2008. 100% agreement with him? 100% agreement with candidate Bush? Did vote for McCain & Bush & no, didn't agree 100% on everything. My point is that some have decided to boycott CFA based on Cathy's coming out against gay marriage. I just wonder if those same people disapproved as ardently when then candidate Obama stated he was against it as well.
August 3, 201214 yr This. I ain't even got to say nothing. PP92/RP in 2016-Cuz we said so. Don't for get your Secretary of AG!!

There are a LOT of "progressives" who think the President has not done a)what he said he would do for them and b)been liberal enuogh YET there is no chance in hell they're voting for Mr Romney. They have been vocal about it. It's why I asked how you boycott. I've got a lot of choices should I choose to boycott CFA. I don't have that when choosing a POTUS.

I just wonder if those same people disapproved as ardently when then candidate Obama stated he was against it as well. There was not a "pro-gay marriage" candidate to support. I didn't vote for a candidate based on their stance toward gay marriage (which I'll remind everyone again, that I am in favor of "marriage" being a purely religious instituation, while allowing anyone of legal age to enter into a civil union with anyone else of legal age), but I would assume that those that are gay voted for the candidate that they felt would be the mostly likely to help their overall agenda.

I'm "boycotting" Mitt Romney this year (meaning I'm not voting for him). I don't doubt there has been some frustration with President Obama from some of his supporters, but I don't believe they have been as vocal with him for his stance than they have been with Mr. Cathy & his stance.

Had President Obama alluded to our country going to hell for the possibility of gay marriage? If not, that might be a difference.
August 3, 201214 yr Had President Obama alluded to our country going to hell for the possibility of gay marriage? If not, that might be a difference. A fair point & I'm highly doubtful that he has used those terms (Obama, that is). But as we've seen in this thread, opposition to gay marriage is viewed by some as bigotry. I didn't see the President labeled that way when he voiced his opposition four years ago.

I didn't see the President labeled that way when he voiced his opposition four years ago. Some of that may have to do with the fact that even as recently as four years ago it wasn't as much of an outrage to be against gay marriage. It wasn't as big of an issue then as it is now. Nobody was allowing it then. Now you can legally get married in some states. Obama also said he was for gay rights(correct me if I am wrong) but not gay marriage. That softens the blow a little bit because he at least appears tolerant and accepting of homosexuals which is at least a start in the gay community's eyes. Obama is also so very well spoken and eloquent that I also seem to think or want to remember that some people felt Obama said he was against gay marriage to secure the Bible Belt vote anyways. I personally never felt he was sincere when he said he was against gay marriage and his 'evolvement' to accepting gay marriage is hardly a surprise to me.
August 3, 201214 yr No chance you can win. Someone had to video you in college. "I didn't inhale" has worked before!
August 3, 201214 yr My thoughts on the Chick-fil-a business are summed up in this photo. So I take it a Camel is your new means of transportation?
August 3, 201214 yr So I take it a Camel is your new means of transportation? Yes but I prefer only bactrian Camels, both sides of this issue are dumb. The guy can voice his opinion all he likes but as a CEO of a company that depends on the general public for patronage it was not a very smart move to make the comments. The people boycotting CFA couldn't have been suprised by this given the nature of the company and are IMO overreacting. I'm just tired of hearing about it from both sides.
