Kentucky Lab Rescue in Winchester

Featured Replies

I'm toying with the idea of getting another dog. Thinking of going with an older rescue since Simba is 4. Pretty sure I'd want another Doodle. Has anyone ever had any experience with them?

Did you find one in Winchester....hence part of the title?

I was wondering about that too. My hobby is working with our local shelter and other rescue dogs. I am more than happy to share what dogs I know about that may fit formerkywrestler's wants.

I don't have direct experience with Labradoodles myself though to answer the question.

I got my "Abby the Labby" from Winchester Lab Rescue. I live in Villa Hills and the drive was 100% worth it.

Awesome place and awesome people.

My Abby has a little Chow in her so the coat is awesome and soft, but all else is Black Lab......

Got her when she was 14 weeks, already house trained and crate trained. She is 5 now and rides shotgun everywhere I go.

No, that is just where the Lab Rescue is located. A friend recommended them to me but they didn't actually adopt a dog from there.

I have a 4 year old Goldendoodle I got as a pup. There are only a handful of breeds I'd consider besides a Goldendoodle/Labradoodle.

Thanks. The house training and crate training part was really one of my main questions I had about them. I know people who have gotten dogs from shelters/rescues that were SUPPOSED to be house trained but were FAR from it. Simba hasn't had an accident since he was ~ 3 months old and I'm not really wanting to go down that road at this time in my life. Plus I want a dog closer to his age if I do decide to get a second one.

They 100% stood behind their dogs and stmts.

I actually felt that they were checking me out more that I was choosing a dog.

The website has the adoptable dogs on it but they usually have more.....

FKW...We adoped our Duncan 4 years ago through Wilson Animal Rescue in NKY. I just noticed they currently have a Labradoodle up for adoption.

We went through 2 interviews and they were unbelievable picky about checking with our vets about prior history of heartwork and flea/tick medicine use, etc. They also did an in-home visit and wanted to insure we had a large fenced in yard,etc.. It was almost like they didn't want to give the dog up. I found out later the lady that was fostering him she only fosters 1 dog at a time along with several cats. I beleive she had Duncan for 6-8 months and was very attached to him and didn't want to give him up to just anyone. She was in tears when she left him with us. He was 100% potty-trained and crate-trained when we got him at 1 1/2 years old. He is the best thing we have ever done for our family. A wonderful dog. I would highly recommend Wilson Animal Rescue. Here is a pic of our Duncan who is a Flat-Coated Retriever.

Giving a dog a great home and great life is a wonderful thing. It still amazes me that a dog as sweet and beautiful as our Duncan is was a week away from getting put down at a kill shelter before he was was rescued and fostered by Wilson Animal Rescue.

Here is our 10 week old labradoodle. We call him "Ace".Ace video n pics 001.jpg
