FKW...We adoped our Duncan 4 years ago through Wilson Animal Rescue in NKY. I just noticed they currently have a Labradoodle up for adoption.

We went through 2 interviews and they were unbelievable picky about checking with our vets about prior history of heartwork and flea/tick medicine use,etc. They also did an in-home visit and wanted to insure we had a large fenced in yard,etc.. It was almost like they didn't want to give the dog up. I found out later the lady that was fostering him she only fosters 1 dog at a time along with several cats. I beleive she had Duncan for 6-8 months and was very attached to him and didn't want to give him up to just anyone. She was in tears when she left him with us. He was 100% potty-trained and crate-trained when we got him at 1 1/2 years old. He is the best thing we have ever done for our family. A wonderful dog. I would highly recommend Wilson Animal Rescue. So is his coat so short because he's only 10 weeks old, or is he a shorter-haired labradoodle?

Henry and I got another Brittany a couple of weeks ago. From what we uinderstand, the pup had been stepped by its young Dam when the pup was very young. The right eye was damaged (he's blind out of it) and the right ear was torn with a piece of it hanging. Not sure what the breeder was going to do with it if no claimed it, but some friends, fearing the worse, agreed to take it (along with a puppy they were buying). They couldn't keep it so they of course called Henry. She loved it. I said no to a second dog, which was wasted breath on my part. Liver and white male to go along with our orange and white 3 year old female. Little son of a gun has razor sharp teeth which he likes sinking into my fingers and toes whenever he gets the chance.

 

Henry has now taken into two "rescue" dogs, one cat and of course one husband.

I was wondering that too. From the picture he looks just like a lab. Simba looked like a stuffed animal when I got him at roughly that age.

A lot of it is where he is so young, but the place we got him said it would be no more than 2 in. at full grown. His Mom was a full blooded lab and his Dad was a Labradoodle.

He is still non-shedding. Still has a coat just like a lab right now. We will see.

Remember with Doodles you are basically getting a mutt. You could still end up with a dog that sheds quite frequently no matter what the breeder tells you...

Within a breed, and even a litter, there can be a lot of variations.

Yep, doesn't matter now. They advertise them as minimal shedding anyway. Mutt or not, by far the smartest pup we have ever seen. Not even close.
