I still find the taboo nature of alcohol in America as one of the great oddities. We make such a big deal out of drinking where-in other countries it is just not that huge of an issue.

According to the Ky ABC's map, Fulton County is also wet.

Wet-Dry Map

I knew we had many dry counties but the map opened my eyes as to how many we have. Are any other states like KY when it comes to alcohol?

It's actually pretty sad.

Check out this wiki page and map. Appears KY has the most dry counties by a mile.

Sure! Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Arkansas ... see a really dumb theme developing here?

Bible belt plus Virginia, Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. More mixed states in the Northeast than I expected.

What's up with that spot in South Dakota?

And for the record I am not anti-dry people or their right to vote. I just do not like having it thrown in anyone's face. Also both sides using the bible to build their case.

The dry vote appeared to be headed to a win in Trigg County a couple of years ago until a baptist church said that any member who signed the petition bringing the issue to a vote would be kicked out. They even went to their homes and "urged" them to apologize to the church. A lot of the church goers in the community disapproved of this tactic and many "no" voters stayed away from the polls because of this. "Yes" won by 36 votes. Over 3,000 votes were cast. People didn't support the "yes" side, but disapproved of how the "no" people went about making it a deeper issue and just decided to remain neutral and not vote.

A month after the vote, the church voted to kick out 17 members of the church who signed the petition. One of those owns property adjacent to the church and has offered to sell it to anyone who wants to open a liquor store.

Murray has passed by an unofficial number of 2109 to 1822! 36% voter turnout.

Marshall heading towards a NO vote by reports.

That is the way I thought both would go.

Not sure how many registered voters there are in Marshall County, but that vote was like 6900 to 6200. A lot closer than many expected for what many may consider as the most conservative county in the Commonwealth. I think the big number from Murray is that 64% did not give a crap one way or the other which is almost like a yes vote.

Somthing doesn't add up with numbers. Given population of both counties if the Murray vote was 36% turn out it would put the total register voters at close to 11,000. Calloway county has close to 7000 more people in it then Marshall yet 13,100 votes were cast in Marshall.
