Bracken's Coach Persinger Resigns

Featured Replies

It is official as I just read it in the Ledger Independent. Chad has been with the program from the beginning. Hate to see him go.

Chad Persinger, who has led the Bracken County Lady Bears softball program since its inception, announced his resignation from the position recently.

Persinger, who led the Lady Bears to 212 wins in his 12 seasons at the helm, said in a text message to the Ledger Independent that it's time to spend more time with his children.

Bracken County returns virtually its entire roster from a sophomore-dominated team that finished 18-21 and advanced to the 10th Region semifinals during the 2012 season.

He will continue to coach the Bracken County boys basketball team.

There is no word as of yet on a replacement for Persinger as the softball coach.

End of an era: Persinger steps down

Wow. I would think that has to come as somewhat of a surprise. Good luck to coach Persinger. He did a great job and the Bears softball program will surely miss him. Good luck to Bracken County in finding a replacement. Please keep us updated on any rumors or possible coaching prospects.

To those close to Chad/the program, it is not surprising at all, especially since he took over boys basketball.

Chad did a heck of a job with this program. Girls softball @ Bracken County has been the most successful varsity sport in the school for many years, until recently when Girls basketball began to make its run. I believe they won 3 Class A championships under Chad, a slew of District championships & several 10th Region tourney Final Four appearances. He built the softball program from the ground up. While I 100% feel this is the right decision for him, his influence will be missed. :thumb:

I don't have any clue on the replacement, Porky, but if/when I hear something I'll let you know.

Bracken Softball is losing a great coach and a Class act guy. I wish Chad the best.

Wow what is the AD doing down there? First football now softball?? Can he be that bad to work for? Heard he's not a nice guy!

Whoever gets this job will have an excellent group of girls returning, hopefully they will build on Chad's success.

I can't speak for Chad or the football coach, but I don't think the AD had a lot to do with Chad's resignation.

If the girls choose to play, you are right.

I can't see them not playing and maybe a player or two that left the team will be back?

I hope they can play next year, but from what I've heard there are some girls who may not play next year that did play this year.

I sure hope not, for a small town they had a nice group coming through together. Not much else to do in Brooksville! HAHA

Look at the turnover rate for football coaches at BC since the program began. I'm not surpirsed the FB coach left as that's been the trend for years--way before Hunter took over as AD. I personally like the guy....I'm not a coach, but am familiar with the system.
