July 1, 201214 yr Author Rumor out that the Lakers and Magic are talking about a trade for Howard. What would this look like? Bynum and change?
July 1, 201214 yr Pacers said to be taking a hard look at Omar Asik, does that mean they don't feel good about matching a max offer for Hibbert? If so doesn't make any sense to me. In a league where quality centers are few and far between locking up Hibbert for the long term would be a priority if I were the Pacers. They invested all the time in letting him mature and grow as a player and now that he is a supreme rim protector I don't see why they would just let him walk. Really showed his value in the Miami series, guy can guard the paint. Don't think Plumlee, or Asik if added would be able to fill that void at all.
July 1, 201214 yr What would this look like? Bynum and change? Orlando not going to do the deal unless it involves Bynum. Magic not thought to be interested in Pau, they want to rebuild with young assets.

This would appear to be one of those cases where some teams are wanting (thankfully) to get away from overpaying players that pigeonhole them into a certain class. It's nice to lock up Arenas at the time, sure, but where was he going to take the Wiz. Lewis is a great shooter, let's make sure we get him. Just saying, not pointing at Hibbert in particular, but in general I think it will be interesting to see how Free Agency shakes out this season and next to see if there is a general shift in how things work. I'm curious on the Eric Gordon New Orleans situation. If a team offers him a max contract do they match that? I understand you don't want to lose him but is that a great idea to make him a max player? To me max deals only go to those select guys that warrent it. But of course there aren't a ton of those guys out there so it doesn't usually go that way.
