Fine but have you see the number of KSP at the Baseball Tourney, the Sweet Sixteen or the State Fair and not the Lex or Lou PD handling the crowds?

 

Remember I said a State Rest Area, you know a State run operation, that a lot of folks would seems to think would mean you would see a State Hwy Patrolling person from time to time patrolling!

 

I have driven in and around Corbin on I-75, between Crittenden to Georgetown on I-75 and around along Beaver Dam section of of the WKY PKWY, heck AAA has a warning about police speed traps on I-65 around Bowling Green and see a ton of KSP but on one of the busiest section of the Interstate hwy in NKy never or at best rarely!

 

Trust me Clyde, I can do better than Mike and indeed Mike is a good guy but in Boone I will place a call to someone a little higher on the food chain whom I know!

 

You might want o re-examine how you view the food chain.

I frequent the AA Highway from Alexandria to Grayson and then I-64 from Grayson to Ashland. I see KSP all the time on I-64. Sometimes I will see them on the AA too.

 

I'd also like to add that I have seen law enforcement shooting radar on that stretch of I-75 plenty of times. Though most of the time they are shooting the northbound traffic and not the southbound.

To be completely honest with you TOG I've seen A LOT more KSP presence in the past 2-3 months. Much more than I had over the past 10-15 years, mostly in Kenton County and around 275 and a little bit of 75. Makes me wonder if Kenton County PD will be annexed in with the Kenton County Sherriff's office here soon which would mean probably more of a KSP presence throughout southern kenton county.

Very possible, however I am hearing from some sources that were in the backup right around the time the accident happened that they were doing some road work, but there was no warning of the road work and slow traffic, no signs, not one of those electronic message boards nothing. One person said, "The accident happened behind me, came up the hill just to the Walton overpass and traffic was just stopped, no warning at all?"

So they couldn't see over the cusp of the hill? If so then I can see where that would happen if the stopped traffic was right over the top. That's why I always pay attention to brake lights of cars in front of me when they go over the top. Sad situation.

I am assuming something like that, the speed limit is 70 through that stretch. It doesn't take long to run up on someone that is not moving at 70 mph.

I too have seen very few State police on the 75 or 65. I was traveling that route down to nashville weekly for some time, and can only recall seeing a KSP cruiser once. Locals, yes you do see them, but not the KSP. Speaking of KSP - if they are so cash strapped - they may have just gotten more strapped with these new cruisers!

As I drove post the accident site today, I made it a point to watch cars in front of me to see at what point I thought I could stop from if they were sitting at the point of impact. Needless to say, if it went from normal speed traffic to stop at that point, I can see where there was not enough space/time to stop before impact.

You aren't going to believe this but the Interstate is closed at the same exit for another wreck on SB Interstate 75, this time on the NB side of the Walton overpass. Last night the wreck was on Interstate 75 SB just south of the overpass.

 

This accident must have happened around 8:10pm as I was on my way back from closing the Walton Community Park and heard the sirens while still in the park and saw the traffic being diverted off the Interstate as I started back home via Interstate 75 NB.

 

Thankfully this wreck didn't look as bad as yesterday but......to have wrecks on back to back days not 100 yards from each other, tells me there is indeed a problem!

There is, it's called distracted drivers. While sitting at the stop light next to UDF off the Wilder exit a guy in the car to my right got plowed in back by a van that was plowed in the back by a truck. We had been sitting at the light for about a minute when the wreck ocurred. People really don't pay attention to the road half as much as they should.
