Arrez Henderson is throwing down nasty dunks at 5"10!

...just a memory but.....anyone else remember when dunking was illegal? At HHS, back in the day, the crowd would chant for Puzzy Pratt 6'6" to dunk in warm-ups before the refs made their appearance to the court...then go nutz when he did it! (remember...it was a technical foul if caught!), AAAH..the sweet remembrance of forbidden fruit!!

It still is a technical foul if caught

Rarely enforced though. Kind of a dumb rule if you ask me.

I totally disagree with this rule, along with not entering the lane on a free throw until the ball hits the rim. Defeats the purpose of blocking out. Back to the dunking rule. Serves no purpose that I can see. Kids work their tails off to be able to dunk in front of their home crowds in warmups. I remember I did. I would go up with the ball, throw it over the backboard and pop the rim and hope no one saw me until the rim was popped so they thought I'd just missed a major throwdown.

I believe that dunking is OK until the officials enter the gym, after that it is a tech. foul enforced before the tip. I know last year watching Ballard warm-up was like watching the Harlem Globetrotters.

I have seen it enforced this year at the Lexington Catholic Fifth/Third Classic.

I on the other hand think dunking in practice is a waste of time. I believe that shooting in all levels of Basketball is so much worse than years ago and I think it is because so many of the players watch all the highlights show featuring dunking and not shooting. Today so few kids can drive to the basket then stop on a dime and hit that ten foot jumper. It almost is a lost art, and if you don't agree with me, then the next time you go to any Basketball game watch to see how many times a player shoots that shot effectively.

It was enforced last night against Owens from Boyd Co and seemed to keep him the hole all night as far as fouls are concerned. This rule needs to be abolished as it serves no purpose for the game. Why should something be deemed illegal in pre-game but legal during the game???

Scott Co. has some good ones in Rodney Haddix, Bud Mackey, and Jordan Lee.

William Jones dunked one aganist Evarts in the first game of the year. Dylan Sizemore threw one down last year aganist Harlan in the regional tournament, and he can get up a whole lot higher this year.

I am sure this rule was made up by someone that could not dunk, and did not want to see anyone else do it either. :thumb:

Kinda odd that the refs were only standing at the other end too....Most normally they come out then split up, they caught Owens completely from the other end... :D:D   :thumb: :thumb:
