I see another fun year for NKY 4A. Looks to be even more competitive than 05 was and 05 was pretty competitive compared to past years.

Another exciting year, maybe. But are any of the teams going to bring home a state title or is Lousville still going to dominate like they do always do?

We'll just have to wait and see. There is alot of talent and alot of good programs developing up here. I wouldn't see surprised to see one in particular make a deep run in the playoffs.

I do not look for Duran to return to football at Holmes for his senior year. I think he will concentrate on basketball.

This is a false statement, please don't start untrue rumors.

Who will qb for the Cougars?

As of right now it's kind of in the air. There are a couple of canidates for the job but it is just too early to tell. I'll get back with you closer to the season on this one and let you know.

"I do not look for" and "I think" indicate these are opinions on my part, not true/false statements. I did not say definitively that DJ will not play. And, my hunch that he will not play next year is based on words straight from DJ's mouth last fall. I realize that people change their minds and I do not hold him to what he said in the aftermath of a loss. I personally hope he does play as he is fun to watch in any sport with his tremendous athleticism and he will make Holmes a better football team.

Understood. Now, you can appreciate though, that if someone told us that Scottie Gray wasn't going to come back next year, we might get a little defensive, even if Scottie had gotten mad one day and said he was tired of losing. Duran will be back, or so the crystal ball says. ;)

If we're strictly speaking 4A NKY I'd rank em like this for the pre-season.

Boone Co.

Dixie

Ryle

SK

CC

Conner

Holmes

Scott

Should be a very interesting season for NKY, and should answer alot of those "who is really number one" questions people like to pose. It seems all the top teams will be linked across the board for alot of speculation on the subject

Always the sandbagger......I like your rankings, just swap Dixie and Boone, Conner and Holmes and Ryle will probably end up at #4. :D

Seriously though, what team improves the most from last year to next? In my mind its Dixie, they return everyone, and had a ton of young talent playing last year (and they still beat us). What team improves the least? I'm not sure, maybe Ryle, CC, or SK, they all lost some key players to graduation, I'll be interested to see how it goes. Will Ryle improve if Yeagle become the OC? I don't have an answer to that, but my gut tells me, too many chiefs, not enough indians.

Suprise team in '06 - Campbell Co. or Holmes

CC always should be a major playor in 4A for NKY. I hope that they will continue to get better. I really liked all the parity in our district last year. It was great to wonder who was going to pull it all out. I don't see Scott, Conner or Holmes challenging for a district crown but the rest will be in the race. Conner still boggles my mind. I'm going to have to wait and see how they rebound. They virtually fell off the map after three very respectable seasons. I had thought they had turned a corner and then.......

Looking over there record since 1990 to present they are very streaky. lots of less than .500 seasons, then three years of teams with good records, followed by more less than .500 seasons. So I guess the fall was more predictable than I knew. I just needed to research it a little better.

Great thoughts, I think that any of the following teams can be the 4 seed with Dixie, Boone, and Ryle taking the other three. Conner, Holmes, SK, CC will battle for the forth spot. I think Dixie and Boone are locks to be 1-2 in our district. I think Ryle will be 3, but thats why we play the games. Holmes will be another year older and we lost a few games we could have won. It should be another fun year...........If August ever comes.

Ain't that the truth. :thumb:

Bring on the parity! I'm hoping for another year of good football in our district. Conner is the biggest question mark I see. Everyone else should be better as a team. Ryle will have to try and fight their own demons this year but will still be good regardless. Scotty Gray and JV RB #34 Brady? will make a nice tandem SK and CC both have sufficient returning players who will keep the same mentality of making teams earn it. Bishop (SK) and Popp (CC), the two leading rushers for their respective teams return along with a large group of underclassman with varsity experience. Scott will have it's best squad in years. Haught and a host of seniors who are fairly talented return. Depth and injuries will play a big part in their season. Holmes should be every bit of the contender. If someone else steps up so that DJ is not the only one carrying the team, they may do well. The line seems solid and that's where it begin.

Popp from Campbell County is a senior this year and will graduate.

huh, I could of swore he was a junior. Oh well, it doesn't change that CC will be good again.

Just FYI this past seasons JV RB #34 was Gillum not Brady.

He should play football, his future is as a DB rather than a PG. He could go to a bigger school in football.
